Scott Spence (Artistic Director/Director)<br />
is excited to enter<br />
<strong>in</strong>to his 21st season at<br />
<strong>the</strong> <strong>Beck</strong> <strong>Center</strong>. In<br />
his tenure as Artistic<br />
Director and Associate<br />
AD, Scott has<br />
produced well over<br />
200 productions,<br />
direct<strong>in</strong>g over 70<br />
himself. The list of<br />
favorites grows every season, and <strong>in</strong>cludes<br />
Parade, A Man of No Importance, Sweeney<br />
Todd, Hair, The Secret Garden, Picasso at <strong>the</strong><br />
Lap<strong>in</strong> Agile, Greater Tuna, Reefer Madness,<br />
The Fix, Zombie Prom, Tommy, Ur<strong>in</strong>etown <strong>the</strong><br />
Musical, The Farnsworth Invention, and Evil<br />
Dead The Musical, as well as last season’s<br />
25th Annual Putnam County Spell<strong>in</strong>g Bee and<br />
<strong>the</strong> box office smash The Producers. Scott is<br />
also thrilled to direct a remount<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>Beck</strong>’s<br />
hit production of Altar Boyz this com<strong>in</strong>g<br />
January at Playhouse Square’s beautiful<br />
Hanna Theatre. He is very proud of <strong>the</strong><br />
awards and acclamations <strong>Beck</strong> has received<br />
over <strong>the</strong> past decade, and is especially<br />
grateful <strong>for</strong> hav<strong>in</strong>g won <strong>the</strong> Nor<strong>the</strong>rn Ohio<br />
Live Award <strong>for</strong> Achievement <strong>in</strong> Theatre<br />
<strong>in</strong> 2006. Outside of <strong>Beck</strong>’s walls, Scott’s<br />
directorial assignments have <strong>in</strong>cluded Das<br />
Barbecü at Opera Cleveland, The Last<br />
Night of Ballyhoo at Case Western Reserve<br />
University’s Eldred Theatre, Oh Dad Poor<br />
Dad....at CSU Summer Stages and Noises<br />
Off at both Wea<strong>the</strong>rvane <strong>in</strong> Akron and<br />
Berea Summer Theatre. Occasionally on<br />
<strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r side of <strong>the</strong> footlights, Scott has<br />
appeared <strong>in</strong> Dick Deadeye (Berea Summer<br />
Theatre), Man of La Mancha (Jewish<br />
Community <strong>Center</strong>), The Secret Rapture<br />
(Dobama) and closer to home at <strong>Beck</strong> <strong>in</strong><br />
Big River, The Boys Next Door and Laughter<br />
on <strong>the</strong> 23rd Floor. He also recently had<br />
<strong>the</strong> privilege of jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> cast of Passion,<br />
directed by Victoria Bussert, <strong>in</strong> his only<br />
onstage st<strong>in</strong>t <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Studio Theater. Scott<br />
holds an MFA <strong>in</strong> Direct<strong>in</strong>g from Western<br />
Ill<strong>in</strong>ois University and is a tra<strong>in</strong>ed stage fight<br />
choreographer, hav<strong>in</strong>g studied extensively<br />
with <strong>the</strong> SAFD. He is also a proud member<br />
of <strong>the</strong> faculty at Cleveland State University,<br />
where he teaches Direct<strong>in</strong>g. As always, he<br />
dedicates his work to <strong>the</strong> two lead<strong>in</strong>g ladies<br />
<strong>in</strong> his life – Rachel and Carleigh.<br />

Bryan Bird (Musical Director) is mak<strong>in</strong>g<br />
his music direct<strong>in</strong>g<br />
debut with <strong>the</strong> <strong>Beck</strong><br />
<strong>Center</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Arts</strong>,<br />
and is grateful to<br />
Larry Goodpaster and<br />
Scott Spence <strong>for</strong> this<br />
opportunity. In addition<br />
to play<strong>in</strong>g keyboard<br />
<strong>for</strong> Peter Pan, The 25 th<br />
Annual Putnam County<br />
Spell<strong>in</strong>g Bee, The Producers, and Joseph and<br />
<strong>the</strong> Amaz<strong>in</strong>g Technicolor Dreamcoat here at<br />
<strong>Beck</strong>, he has also accompanied over two<br />
dozen shows around Nor<strong>the</strong>ast Ohio, and<br />
occasionally pretends to be an actor when<br />
someone is gracious enough to cast him. His<br />
music direct<strong>in</strong>g credits <strong>in</strong>clude Camelot and<br />
Pump Boys and D<strong>in</strong>ettes at Olde Towne Hall<br />
Theatre and City of Angels at Hudson Players.<br />
Dur<strong>in</strong>g his non-<strong>the</strong>ater time, he works as<br />
a graphic artist <strong>for</strong> a music publisher and<br />
moonlights as a roller coaster enthusiast.<br />
Bryan sends his love to his parents Bill and<br />

and West Side Story with Bebe Neuwirth. In<br />
New York Martín staged choreography <strong>for</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> off-off-Broadway production of Scrooge<br />
and Marley. He choreographed <strong>the</strong> open<strong>in</strong>g
acts <strong>for</strong> Earth, W<strong>in</strong>d, and Fire and <strong>the</strong> Bee<br />
Gees, and has appeared on TV’s Dance<br />
Fever and NBC’s Weekday Fever. His<br />
most recent opera credit was <strong>the</strong> lavish<br />
PBS production of Le Cid with Placido<br />
Dom<strong>in</strong>go and <strong>the</strong> Wash<strong>in</strong>gton Opera live<br />
from Kennedy <strong>Center</strong> where he served<br />
as associate choreographer. Martín is an<br />
alumnus of Jacque d’Amboise’s National<br />
Dance Institute at New York City’s PS<br />
161. He has won numerous Times Tribute<br />
Awards, Scene Magaz<strong>in</strong>e Awards, News-<br />

Lady (Ensemble). She<br />
earned a BM <strong>in</strong> Voice<br />
from Cleveland State<br />
University where she<br />
was actively <strong>in</strong>volved<br />
<strong>in</strong> lead<strong>in</strong>g roles<br />
with Opera Theater<br />
<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Humperd<strong>in</strong>ck’s Hansel und<br />

<strong>the</strong> Miss America Organization plac<strong>in</strong>g<br />
first, third and fourth runner-up to Miss<br />

Ryan Bergeron (Tremont/<br />
Archangel Gabriel)<br />
Believe it or not this is<br />
actually Ryan’s debut<br />
<strong>in</strong> heels...although<br />
not as a soprano.<br />
A Baldw<strong>in</strong>-Wallace
graduate and <strong>for</strong>mer <strong>Beck</strong> Youth Theater<br />
faculty member, he was last seen here<br />
<strong>in</strong> Ur<strong>in</strong>etown <strong>the</strong> Musical (2005 & 2008<br />
productions) and as <strong>the</strong> conductor of <strong>the</strong><br />
extended run of The Evil Dead The Musical.<br />
O<strong>the</strong>r favorites: Sweeney Todd (Pirelli) at<br />
Connecticut Repertory Theatre; Songs <strong>for</strong> a<br />
New World (Man 1) at Theatre on <strong>the</strong> Hill,<br />

Opera, 10 with <strong>the</strong> <strong>for</strong>mer Carousel D<strong>in</strong>ner<br />
Theatre, and regional/tour<strong>in</strong>g credits across<br />
<strong>the</strong> country. He has also served as Musical<br />
Director at just about every venue <strong>in</strong> town,<br />
and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>s a private vocal studio of very<br />
talented students that very much susta<strong>in</strong> his<br />
love <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> arts. He is honored to take his<br />
f<strong>in</strong>al Cleveland bow (<strong>for</strong> a while, at least)<br />
with very dear friends and colleagues <strong>in</strong> Jerry<br />
Spr<strong>in</strong>ger, after which he leaves to pursue his<br />
MM <strong>in</strong> Musical Theatre. Ryan will very<br />

Darryl graduated from<br />

He holds a Bachelor of<br />

<strong>Arts</strong>. Mr. Lewis was most recently seen as <strong>the</strong><br />
loveable Mr. Fezziwig <strong>in</strong> Christmas Carol <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
Ohio Theater at PlayhouseSquare. He has also<br />

Benjam<strong>in</strong> Gantose (Assistant Scenic<br />
& Light<strong>in</strong>g Designer) received a BFA<br />
from <strong>the</strong> University of C<strong>in</strong>c<strong>in</strong>nati, College<br />
Conservatory of Music (CCM), and has<br />
been <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> both scenic and light<strong>in</strong>g<br />
design <strong>for</strong> works spann<strong>in</strong>g ballet and modern<br />
dance, <strong>the</strong>ater, musical <strong>the</strong>ater, opera, and<br />
<strong>the</strong>me parks. Highlights <strong>in</strong>clude Joseph and<br />
<strong>the</strong> Amaz<strong>in</strong>g Technicolor Dreamcoat, My<br />
Fair Lady, The Producers, and Altar Boyz,<br />
at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Beck</strong> <strong>Center</strong>; Don’t Call Me Fat and<br />
Open M<strong>in</strong>d Firmament at Cleveland Public<br />
Theatre; Passion and Swan Lake at CCM;<br />
and various productions at C<strong>in</strong>c<strong>in</strong>nati<br />
Ballet, Cedar Po<strong>in</strong>t, Knott’s Berry Farm, Verb<br />
Ballets, and Inlet Dance Theater. Th<strong>in</strong>gs<br />
are just gett<strong>in</strong>g started <strong>for</strong> Benjam<strong>in</strong> and<br />
he looks <strong>for</strong>ward to be<strong>in</strong>g a struggl<strong>in</strong>g artist<br />

Jenniver Sparano (Costume Designer)<br />
is always happy to return to <strong>the</strong> Studio<br />
Theater, where she most recently designed<br />
costumes (and ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong>tegrity) <strong>for</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> record-break<strong>in</strong>g Evil Dead The Musical.<br />

Richard B. Ingraham (Sound Designer)<br />
is happy to return <strong>for</strong> his eighth season of<br />
work with <strong>Beck</strong> <strong>Center</strong>. Previous sound<br />

software tools <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> per<strong>for</strong>m<strong>in</strong>g arts and has<br />
worked as a Show Control Programmer and<br />
<strong>in</strong>staller <strong>for</strong> clients such as Royal Caribbean<br />
Cruise L<strong>in</strong>es, Dialog <strong>in</strong> The Dark <strong>in</strong> Kansas<br />
City, The L<strong>in</strong>coln Library and Museum <strong>in</strong><br />
Spr<strong>in</strong>gfield, IL and Stone Mounta<strong>in</strong> Park <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> Dark Studio, a full-service makeup and<br />
FX group specializ<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> custom haunted<br />
attraction props and special makeup effects<br />
<strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong>ater, film, and video. His most recent<br />
film work can be seen <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> upcom<strong>in</strong>g<br />
feature film, Beautiful Garden (Makeup/<br />

Joseph Carmola (Technical Director)<br />
enters his fifth season as Technical Director<br />
at <strong>the</strong> <strong>Beck</strong> <strong>Center</strong>. Hail<strong>in</strong>g from Canton,<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> past Joe has served as Technical<br />
Director/Light<strong>in</strong>g Designer at <strong>the</strong> Canton<br />
Players Guild, The Magical Theatre<br />
<strong>Company</strong>, as well as Paul Green’s Trumpet<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Land, and numerous freelance credits<br />
as well as design <strong>for</strong> Les Miserables Jr. which<br />
has been seen <strong>in</strong> many student programs<br />
throughout Nor<strong>the</strong>ast Ohio. He is also <strong>the</strong><br />
proud fa<strong>the</strong>r of Clayton and Lily who have<br />
