A SNAPSHOT OF TERM 2 AT MOTHER OF GOD
A SNAPSHOT OF TERM 2 at MOG
The Marian Centre
and new school
facilities were
officially opened on
the 29 th April by
Jenny Macklin.
Gerard, Joshua and Marcus
led the student assembly
always with big smiles and
a positive attitude.
Our Year 6 students
celebrated their
Confirmation with students
across the Catholic Parish
of Ivanhoe at St. Patrick’s
Cathedral on 3 rd June.
Middle School had a
footy clinic with the
Carlton Footballers.
We welcomed Gabriel
(Prep) and his family.
Preps learning with
their buddies.
We collected footy
boots for a school in
East Timor and gave
generously to the
Vinnies Winter Appeal.
Our Middle School
explored the MCG and
met an Olympian.
We played interschool
sport in football, netball
and t-ball. Our netball
teams made it to the
finals and A team were
runners up. We all
showed great
sportsmanship and
persistence throughout
the term.

Middle School are contributing
cards and art works to a school
in Santephiep Village in North
East Cambodia. OLMC assisted
in building this community
school and we are working in
partnership with OLMC.
Some Senior School students attended a
Conference on Social Justice. They learnt
about poverty in the Phillipines and how
they can assist with this issue.
Middle School went for a walk around our
area, observing the change in the seasons
for Visual Arts.
Some of us helped out at
the Working Bee.
Boxercise with ‘Red
Alligator’, makes us use
both sides of our brain and
gets our heart rate up.
Eucharist
On the first Tuesday next term, 17th July, we will be holding the Family Activity night for
all parents and children from the Catholic Parish of Ivanhoe who will be making their first
Eucharist this year. It begins at 6:30pm in the Marian Centre.

Student of the Week
Prep: All the Preps for being so well behaved during our activity day. Thank you all!
Junior G: All Junior School G for your participation in our healthy living activity day. You
did lots of things that made you feel safe, happy and healthy!
Sofia Lotito for using fantastic strategies when you are reading and writing. Keep up your
great learning!
Junior W: All Junior School W for your participation in our healthy living activity day. You
did lots of things that made you feel safe, happy and healthy!
Middle B: James for the great job he had done in leading prayer and for the way he thinks
in Maths.
Middle M: Zac for being our ‘class engineer!’ What a great helper you are Zac. We
appreciate your enthusiasm.
Senior G: Matthew for making a difference in the playground with the sports equipment.
Senior T: Michele for being a wonderful part of the Mother of God school community. We
wish you well.
Marian Kitchen will be commencing operation as of Friday 20 th July. Information & Order
forms will be sent out next term.

Fundraising BarbeQue @ Masters, Chifley Dr, Preston: A GREAT BIG thank you to Maudeann
Anjoul has once again organized a fundraising barbeque at the new Masters store in Chifley
Dr, Preston. Maudeann and her band of many merry helpers raised over $1700. A great
effort with the Mother of God community working together.
MOG Village Fete 2012: A successful meeting was held for the
Stall co-ordinators. Please submit your completed forms and start
to surround yourself with a support team that will lighten your
workload. Saturday 24 th November will be here sooner than we think!
FoodWorks East Ivanhoe has been conducting an initiative called "Checkout Cheques". All
you need to do is mention our school to the checkout operator and they will add it to the
fundraising total. So far over $2000 dollars has been raised. Keep up the wonderful effort
and do not forget to support our local traders, thereby supporting Mother of God Primary
School.
Uniform Shop News
Uniform shop will be open on Thursday 19 th July. You can order any Uniform requirements
from using the tote system. Send the correct payment with your completed order form or pay
upon collection from the office. Cash or cheque (made out to Mother of God Uniform shop) is
acceptable. Good quality second goods are always available.

This week we had a whole school photo taken. If you wish to purchase a copy at the cost of
$18, please send a clearly marked envelope to the office.

Woolworths Earn & Learn dockets are back in full swing. There is a box in the office for the
completed sticker forms. Let’s see how many we can collect for our kids this year.
Coles dockets are once again being collected. Keep them coming in!
On Tuesday 26 th June, Junior School had healthy activity day. The
students participated in a range of physical activities, shared healthy
foods and learnt about personal hygiene. We would like to THANK
Fran Alessi and Jane Mancini for conducting the physical activities and
Katia Lotito, Sara Mitsch and Lisa Ford for serving all the children.
