Who are our clients?What they are do<strong>in</strong>ghere?Sexual Migration- Our clients are from more than22 countries.- Most of our clients are gay orMSM.- Some clients migrated toCanada with their families.- Some others migrated to livetheir sexual lives, others arealready HIV poz <strong>and</strong> they movedto Canada to receive services<strong>and</strong> medication that is hard toget <strong>in</strong> their home countries.


Migration, <strong>Mental</strong> <strong>and</strong> HIV• Most literature ongay/MSM issues that wehave access is from theUnited States.• There is a press<strong>in</strong>g need tohave more research <strong>in</strong> thefield of <strong>Lat<strong>in</strong>o</strong> <strong>LGTBQ</strong>issues, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g mentalhealth <strong>in</strong> Canada.

Different issues related tocondom use• <strong>Lat<strong>in</strong>o</strong> gay men migrates whoNorth America: Carrillo (2004);Bianchi et.al, (2007); Diaz (1998);Munoz-Laboy (2004): Vasques delAguila (2012): these literaturecommonalities po<strong>in</strong>t out thechalleng<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>tersect<strong>in</strong>gdifficulties <strong>in</strong> which migrationoccurs <strong>and</strong> how those migrants areexposed to higher levels ofvulnerability that h<strong>in</strong>der safesexual practices. Consequentially,report<strong>in</strong>g higher numbers of HIV<strong>in</strong>fection among them.

Future implication for the <strong>Lat<strong>in</strong>o</strong> <strong>LGTBQ</strong> populations<strong>and</strong> mental health• Research for <strong>LGTBQ</strong>communities is needed <strong>in</strong>order to <strong>in</strong>form: policies,services provision,practices, <strong>in</strong>terventions<strong>and</strong> to reduce suffer<strong>in</strong>g,mental <strong>and</strong> health issues <strong>in</strong>this community.• Provide fund<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> order toextend services to othercommunities <strong>in</strong> <strong>Ontario</strong>,<strong>and</strong> Canada with larger<strong>LGTBQ</strong> communities.
