Art Nalls, a retired Mar<strong>in</strong>e Lt. Col, pilot with more than1,400 hours fly<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Harrier AV8-A and B models, made hisfirst public debut of <strong>the</strong> world’s first-and only-civilian ownedHarrier jump jet <strong>at</strong> last year’s <strong>Culpeper</strong> Air Fest. He’s back thisyear with an amaz<strong>in</strong>g flight demonstr<strong>at</strong>ion of several highspeedpasses and <strong>the</strong> Harrier’s trademark hover<strong>in</strong>g exhibition<strong>at</strong> about 100 feet AGL.Art retired from <strong>the</strong> Mar<strong>in</strong>e Corps and started a realest<strong>at</strong>e development company, Nalls Development and Investment,specializ<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> restor<strong>in</strong>g and develop<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> neglectedareas of historic Wash<strong>in</strong>gton, DC, such as Anacostia andSouth West Wash<strong>in</strong>gton, DC. He returned to fly<strong>in</strong>g byjo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Commemor<strong>at</strong>ive Air Force and became a fly<strong>in</strong>gsponsor of two of <strong>the</strong>ir aircraft. He now regularly flies <strong>in</strong> an “Alb<strong>at</strong>ross”Czechoslovakian Advanced Jet Tra<strong>in</strong>er and a 1939 Piper Cub L-4 “Grasshopper”aircraft powered by an orig<strong>in</strong>al Cont<strong>in</strong>ental 65 HP, 4-cyl<strong>in</strong>der eng<strong>in</strong>e. He has flight time <strong>in</strong>approxim<strong>at</strong>ely 65 different type, model, and series of military and civilian aircraft <strong>in</strong> addition to <strong>the</strong>“Harrier.” These <strong>in</strong>clude <strong>the</strong> B-52, C-141, C-130, A-7, A-37, T-38, F-4, F-5, F-15, and F-16, andF-18. Stop by and view <strong>the</strong> models rang<strong>in</strong>g from <strong>the</strong> most basic to large scale multi-eng<strong>in</strong>edmodels. Performers will range <strong>in</strong> age from teenagers to <strong>the</strong> 90s!
