With the support of our members and vendorsthe Conference Committee has planned great workshops,entertainment, and menus. Ron Stewart and Dave Church willintroduce our 25 year vendors and members, and present ahistory of the association. The President’s Reception will honorPast Presidents, and Thursday’s luncheon honors FoundingMembers and Vendors. Thursday evening members andvendors will be entertained with Wild Bills’ Casino Games anddoor prizes donated by vendors.There is an assortment of conference workshops for everyoneto choose from. The $85 fee includes OSFMA membership, Thursdayworkshops, luncheon and speaker, and the vendor trade show.Conference Financial Assistance ProgramThe Financial Assistance Program was created as a meansof assisting facilities managers achieve greater professionalexpertise through membership in OSFMA when funding isnot available through their school district or other means.Individuals wishing to request financial assistance pleasecontact your Zone Director.Next year is going to be tough for each and every one ofus, therefore making it more important for everyone to stayinvolved with OSFMA. The association can provide networking,training, and contacts. School Districts, large and small, all havecommon issues and concerns. Take advantage of the expertknowledge from school members, or vendor members, to helpsolve issues. I ask that our Zone Directors set a goal to haveat least two zone meetings next year and poll the membersabout the issues they need addressed. I encourage other schooldistrict facilities managers to learn more about OSFMA byattending a zone meeting.During my tenure as the OSFMA President, I have had theopportunity to work with the Board to create a Mini Conference.The Mini Conferences will assist our members with anopportunity to encourage and support their employees. Zone 3will be hosting the Mini-Conference on October 14, 2011. TheMini-Conference is free to attendees, and is open to all zonesand school districts. The Mini-Conference targets employeesthat have a potential of promotion to Leadership positionswithin your District.As I finish my year as the OSFMA President I want to thankall of you for your support. I have had a wonderful experienceworking among great leaders of OSFMA. 25 Years of Excellence ...Honoring the Past ...Building the Future...OSFMA Beginnings...In July 1986 twenty four facilities managers from around the state discussed the formation of a new organization, with the objective topromote and foster the highest degree of professionalism in the maintenance operation of school facilities. Nine workshops were presented, and RussellSadler, noted newspaper columnist, was the speaker at the banquet dinner. Ten vendors attended the first conference displayingservices and products. The first conference vendors included:Air Filter Sales and ServiceAmerican Janitorial SupplyCoastwide LaboratoriesHeavey EnginnersICL of OregonJohnson WaxSiplastSpartan Chemical CompanyStagecraft IndustriesTremco, Inc.Over the years the annual conferences were held in Springfield, Eugene, and currently in Albany Oregon. The vendor trade showhas grown from 84 booths in 1991 to over 120 in 2010.
