ApplicationsThe 8000D Mixer/Mill ®is an efficient two-clamplaboratory mill for pulverizing hard,brittle samples in the 10-gram range.Functionally described as a shaker mill or ahigh-energy ball mill, the 8000D Mixer/Mill iscapable of rapidly reducing solids to analyticalfineness or blending a wide range of powders.It is also very effective for mechanical alloying.With two clamps for increased throughput, the8000D also features a variable range electronic timer,sleek, modern design, forced-air cooling, a safetyinterlock, and vials in a wide choice of materials.The dual clamps of the 8000D Mixer/Mill not onlyallow twice as many samples to be ground at a giventime, but also move in balance, reducing vibrationand extending the life of the mill’s components.A fan keeps the motor and clamp mechanisms coolduring operation.Pulverizing rocks, minerals, ores, sand, cement, slag, ceramics,soils, catalyst supports, etc. Mechanical alloying, blending pigments, mixinganalytical samples with binders or carriers, diluting powdered standards.Vials All the standard vials available for the 8000M Mixer/Millwill fit the 8000D. They are available intool steel, stainless steel, tungsten carbide, alumina ceramic,zirconia ceramic, silicon nitride and agate. Plastic vialsand balls are also available for making emulsions andblending powders. The largest plastic vial has aninternal volume of 135 ml.It is recommended that vials for the 8000DMixer/Mill be purchased and used in pairs; whenonly one sample is being ground, the other vialshould be clamped in place without sample or ballto maximize the balanced operation of the mill.Controls New LCD membrane control panelreduces dust contamination. The electronic timerof the 8000D Mixer/Mill displays the programmedrunning time; while the mill is operating, thetimer also counts down the amount of time left inthe run.
