Two other PG programmes and 6UG programmes are already under the hood.Genetic Profiling of Kerala PopulationPeople of Kerala, whether Hindu, Muslim orChristian, have close genetic links to European andEast Asian populations, says a study conducted bya group of students from the Sree Buddha Collegeof Engineering at Pattoor.The findings woulddisprove the historical data based theory ofDravidian origin of the Kerala population.Thepaternal lineage of various non-tribal communitiesof Kerala showed a mixed genetic origin from EastAsian and European populations.Eleven final year BT&BCE students, guidedby Dr. Seema Nair P. (HOD, BT&BCE) did a DNAProfiling (Y-STR) of various communities inKerala. The project aiming to document the richhuman genetic diversity started in 2009 afterclearing various medical, ethical and legal aspectsand was completed in 2010. Ms. Aswathy G. andMs. Chippy Jagannath were the research assistants.New Civil Engineering BlockNew block for the Department of CivilEngineering was inaugurated by Prof. K. Sasikumar,(Chairman, Sree Buddha Educational Society) on13 th June 2011. Dignitaries including Prof. V. Prasad(Secretary, SBES), Mr. K.K. Sivadasan (Treasurer,SBCE), Dr. Somi Sebastian (Principal, SBCE) andProf. B.
