This solid hardwood circular staircase is located on the
lower level and includes three risers and bowed double
volute treads for a grand entry. The second floor stacked
staircase is freestanding and continues the European
design through to the third floor and loft area.

WHY CHOOSE PREFABRICATED STAIRS?
Choosing to purchase prefabricated stairs will save you time,
money and hassle in the long run. Here’s why so many builders
are switching to prefabricated staircases:
Curved and spiral staircases are very difficult to build and require
expertise, precision and architectural engineering. Onsite contractors
often cannot provide the expertise and knowledge that a specialized
stair builder can provide.
Our stairs are constructed in a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled
facility which helps to eliminate the natural movements of lumber such
as warping and splitting.
Your stair will be built exactly as indicated on the AutoCAD
drawings/specs. Railings are built directly on the stair to ensure the
railing fits perfectly.
The curved top rail will be pre-bent with the top and bottom fittings
attached, newel posts set in place and all balusters pre-fitted. The
railing will have previously been set in our shop, numbered in
sequence and dismantled for quick and easy onsite installation. You’ll
save hours on onsite labor.
Our woodworkers are exceptionally trained and work under the
guidance of our Quality Control Manager. They are experts in their
craft and it shows.
Your staircase will be delivered completely assembled. Just set it and
secure it in place. It’s that easy!
Our 75,000 sf state-of-the-art facility is
equipped for any sized custom project.
Each baluster (or panel) is set in place, numbered, then
dismantled for fast and easy on-site installation.

We’ll send you a full-scale template of the staircase
we’ve designed for your home which will help your
framer layout curved walls, curved railings,
balconies and other critical walls that may intersect
the stair. The template will eliminate any guesswork
and save your framer a considerable amount of
planning time.

Can be easily laid on the floor in the space
allocated for the stair. It's perfect for verifying
the size, layout, and radius of the stair.
Plywood Template
Offers all of the advantages of the Paper
Template plus the durability of a wooden

of construction traffic around the template, or if
you will be keeping it in place for a while.
Plate-Loc Curved Wall Template NEW!
Offers all of the advantages of the plywood
template but also includes a curved wall
template that outlines the inside and outside
radii of the stair and can be used as the base

staircase stringers. A great solution to plan

Home project at the 2006 International Builder’s Show in Orlando,

We carefully designed and crafted this splendid custom spiral staircase
out of the highest quality Brazilian cherry and also supplied the
extraordinary project with all of the interior railing components.
Chippendale style Brazilian cherry newels
and white pin-top balusters offer a
beautiful contrast while the Lambton style
top rail finishes off the luxurious
balustrade.
This custom Brazilian cherry spiral
staircase has an intermediate
landing and is thoughtfully located in
the study leading to the library of The
New American Home.

HARDWOOD CHARACTERISTICS
We only use beautiful, select and better hardwoods for our custom staircases and stair parts.
Below are the characteristics of the primary wood species that we supply. If you are interested in
a wood species that is not listed here please contact us and we’ll do what we can to
accommodate you!
Appalachian Red Oak Red Oak
The sapwood of red oak is white to light brown and the heartwood is a pinkish reddish
brown. Red Oak is mostly straight-grained, with a coarse texture. This hard wood
machines well and is excellent for staining. Red Oak is very abundant and is the most
widely used species.
Hard Maple
The sapwood is creamy white with a slight reddish brown tinge and the heartwood varies
from light to dark reddish brown. Both sapwood and heartwood can contain pith fleck.
Maple has a close, fine, uniform texture and is generally straight-grained. Maple is very
durable and is highly resistant to abrasion and wear. It stains to a fantastic finish and
polishes very well.
American Cherry
The heartwood of cherry varies from rich red to reddish brown and will darken with age and
on exposure to light. The sapwood is creamy white. The wood has a fine, uniform, straightgrain,
smooth texture and takes stain very well. The wood may naturally contain brown pith

flecks and small gum pockets.
This hardwood has an interlocked or straight grain, often with a ribbon figure, and a
moderately coarse texture. The heartwood is a reddish brown, while the sapwood is a
creamy white. Mahogany works fairly easily and glues, nails and screws satisfactorily. It

stains and polishes to an excellent finish.

Brazilian Cherry
Brazilian cherry is a very beautiful reddish brown wood, with an interlocking grain and a
golden luster or glow beneath. It is a hard, heavy and very strong wood. Brazilian cherry

steam-bends well, and glues well, although nailing may require pre-drilling. It is prized for
its beauty and is on the verge of extinction outside of natural parks.
Yellow Birch
Yellow birch has a white sapwood and light reddish brown heartwood. The wood is generally
straight-grained with a fine uniform texture. Generally characterized by a plain and often
curly or wavy pattern.The wood works fairly easily, glues well with care, takes stain extremely
well, and nails and screws satisfactorily where pre-drilling is advised.

Center stringer staircase
These ultra-contemporary staircases are clean and simplistic yet full of
architectural artistry. The CNC recessed select maple 1-5/8” treads are
mounted on a hollow structural steel center stringer. The open riser design
allows for an abundance of light to be diffused throughout the main level of
this modern home. Half inch tempered glass panels enclose the staircase
and provide an unassuming 10 foot high wall leading up to the third floor.
Stair Type: Straight, open riser, 11’ high, 40¾” wide.
Wood Species: Select maple treads and top rail.
Railing: Oval profile top rail.

Order a Staircase
1. Call us at (800) 387-7711/(613) 723-5454 with your
requirements OR fax the Estimate Request Form from
page 35 to us at (613) 723-5149.
A Staircase Consultant will contact you to
verify the dimensions and style.
A detailed estimate and AutoCAD shop drawing will be
sent to you shortly afterwards.
2. To order your staircase, simply sign all AutoCAD
drawings and the quotation (after checking all
measurements and specs) and return to StairWorld
either via fax or mail.
Staircase orders require a 25% deposit.

We proudly accept Visa, MasterCard, check and COD.
There is a $35 charge for COD.
Returns
Any standard parts not needed can be returned for credit.
The material must be in the same shape, form, and
condition as it was at time of shipping. Shipping costs are
the responsibility of the customer. A 20% restocking fee
will be applied. Custom parts and staircases are final
purchases.
