<strong>PRODUCT</strong> <strong>LIST</strong>GENERAL INFORMATIONEffective 1 April 2013General Conditions Of Sale1. Master Agreement and Application1.1 The parties agree that, pursuant to the Personal PropertiesSecurity Act 1999 (PPSA), these conditions of sale:(a) will apply to all products and services supplied by<strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> New Zealand Limited (“<strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong>”)to the buyer in the future, and that any such productssupplied will be described as inventory;(b) will prevail over any inconsistent terms or conditionscontained or referred to in the buyer’s purchaseorder or other correspondence, and will supersede allprevious written or implied conditions of sale; and(b) may be varied by <strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> at any time by notice inwriting to the buyer.1.2 The buyer acknowledges that collateral supplied to thebuyer by <strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> is inventory.1.3 Variation and improvements to design and printedspecifications will continue to be made without notice.2. Packing and Freight• All prices shown include standard freight withinNew Zealand.• Requests for urgent/courier delivery will incur a freightcharge at cost.• Any additional packaging required for export despatch willincur extra packaging charges.3. ClaimsYour order should be checked against the packing slipacknowledgement. Except as covered under the warranty clause,claims made seven days, or later, after the receipt of goods willnot be recognised or admitted.4. Proof of DeliveryBuyer must advise the carrier/s and <strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> of non-deliveryof invoiced goods within 28 days of receipt of invoice; unless suchadvice is received buyer admits delivery of invoiced goods.5. DeliverySplit delivery – If only part consignment is delivered advise thecarriers and <strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> immediately clearly stating what hasbeen delivered and what is missing.Breakages – Sign ‘unexamined’. Unpack without delay andadvise the carriers and <strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> of any damage orbreakages immediately.6. Delivery DateAny time or date for despatch provided is an estimate only and<strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> shall not be liable for the consequences of any delay.7. PricesAll prices shown are prices for customers resident within New Zealandonly. Prices are subject to alterations at any time without notice. Theprice charged is that ruling at date of purchase. All published prices areGST exclusive.8. Payment8.1 All goods and materials supplied are due for settlement in fullon 20th of month following invoice date.8.2 Interest may be charged on overdue amounts at a rate of officialcash rate + 2% per month.8.3 When payment is late discounts may be cancelled.9. Remedies9.1 The parties agree to contract out of Part 9 of the PPSA as faras it applies to <strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong>’s rights to withhold delivery ofsubsequent orders, cancel discounts and charge for debtcollection and recovery costs without prejudicing any of<strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong>’s other rights under the PPSA or these conditionsof sale.9.2 On default of payment or performance of any other obligationunder this agreement, <strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> reserves the right towithhold delivery of all subsequent orders until settlementis received.9.3 All debt collection agency fees, charges and debt recovery costswill be added to the amount due.9.4 If the buyer defaults in performing its obligations under thisagreement or if <strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> incurs any expenses in inforcingits rights under this agreement or, otherwise suffers loss from adefault or enforcement the buyer shall, on demand, indemnify<strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> for such expenses (including without limitationlegal costs on a full indemnity basis) and losses.9.5 If the buyer waives its, his or her to right to receive a copy ofthe verification statement confirming registration of a financingstatement or a financing change satement relating to thesecurity interest granted under this agreement.9.6 The buyer agrees it has no rights under Sections 114(i)(a), 116,121, 125, 129, 131, 133 and 134 of the PPSA.Continues over page...RES-A2www.assaabloy.co.nz0413

This helps prevent damage from the door being slammedshut with the lock beaks out.Austenitic S. Steel - Corrosion-resistant, made with S. Steel.Awning Window - A window with an outward opening sash, hungabout a horizontal axis at the top or on friction stays at the side.Backset - The distance from the face of the lock to the centre line of thelock barrel.Bi-fold - A hinged door or window with sections that fold onto oneanother as the door opens.Bi-parting - Two sliding doors in a frame that lock together in thecentre.Bracket - Sash/Transom - A simple rigid structure in the shape of anL, one arm of which is fixed to a vertical surface, the other projectinghorizontally to support a weight.Butt Hinge - A hinge composed of two plates attached to adjacentsurfaces of a door/window and jamb and joined by a pin.C-Groove - European standard C-shaped groove in the inner part of thewindow frame.C4 Format Lock - A conventional lock cylinder based on the registeredC4 key shape format.Casement Operator - Window opening system with a winding handle,for use with casement windows.Casement Window - A window with an outward opening sash, hungabout a vertical axis at the side.Commercial Weight - Built to take the heavier loads and weights ofcommercial applications.Computer Aided Design (CAD) - Process of using CAD software forproduct and tooling design.Concealed Friction Joint - The stay joint is covered to protect frictionsurface from dust and debris.‘D’ Pull - Handle shaped as a ‘D’, functions as a door or window grip.DA Stay - Double Action stay: first phase ventilation, second phasecleaning.Daylatch - System offering both a latch and a key lock on the inside ofthe door, the daylatch acting as a quick and convenient latching option.Deadbolt - A bolt on a lock that is moved by turning the key or knob.Deadlock - Key access from inside and outside the door or window forextra security.Door Handing - The orientation of the hardware to Australasianstandard.Double Hung Sash Window - A window that has two sashes thatslide up and down.Double Key Cylinder - Cylinder with a lock face on both ends, usedin deadlocking applications.Double Operating Action - When a stay has a sliding actionallowing a window to be opened to 90° for cleaning.Double Tongue - Second tongue on a window fastener, whichallows the window to be left slightly open for ventilation.Drop Bolt - Additional fastening on door that serves as a lock,activated by a key.Dummy - A handle and housing without the latching or lockingmechanisms. Intended to match a functional handle on a doubledoor/window system.Escutcheon Plate - A protective plate for a keyhole.Extension Rod - An extension to a head or sill lock rod for use ontall (above standard) doors directly.Face Fix - The fastener is fixed direction through the base onto theface of the window sash.Finish - Final cover treatment of the product for appearance andprotection, in both plated finishes or powdercoat colour.Friction Bearing - Sealed nylon bearings working as highly accurateand strong pivot centres for stays. The sealing ensures durabilityand maximum product life.Friction Hinge - To brace and support the window sash for opening.Also known as a stay.Furniture - Fittings complimentary to the lock systems, such ashandles and escutcheon plates.Half Cylinder - Cylinder with a lock face on only one end, for suchsystems as ‘lock inside only’.HD Stay - Heavy-duty stay for commercial applications.High Forces - Intense forces such as strong winds.Hook Bolt - Projecting bolt on a hinged or sliding door lock thathooks into the striker for added security.Jamb - Vertical posts or pieces that together form the sides of adoor or window frame.Keyed Alike - Where the same key operates two or more cylinders.LF - Low friction.LH - Left hand.Latch - The fastening on a door that fits into the notch or slot on adoor jamb and is lifted from either side by the handle.Die-cast - Process of manufacturing a product via molten metalentering a mould.RES-A6www.assaabloy.co.nz0413


<strong>PRODUCT</strong> <strong>LIST</strong>GENERAL INFORMATIONEffective 1 April 2013Glossary of Terms continued...Lock Body - Lock mechanism.Lock Cylinder - The metal surround of the lock that fits into the lockbody.Lockset - A set of hardware for shutting or locking a door.Master Keyed - A number of cylinders in a group can be operatedby one ‘master key’ whilst at the same time can also be operated byindividual keys.Mortice Mounted - The lock is fitted inside the door stile asopposed to mounted on the surface.Mullion - The upright bar between sashes of a window (the sill isthe horizontal bar).NF - Non-friction.Negative Pressure - A pressure imbalance between the inside andoutside of a window/door resulting in a force tending to pull thewindow/door off a building.Non-handed - The ability to reverse the product or key componentto suit left or right-hand installation.Offset Tongue - Single tongue on a window fastener offset furtherfrom the base allowing for better handgrip.Opposing Tongue - Two tongues on opposite sides of the windowfastener handle, one allowing the window to be left slightly openfor ventilation. Alternative to double tongue.P Colours - A choice of the most common powdercoat coloursused on <strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> window and door hardware.Packer - Fills any space between the product and its installationsite, when dimensions may differ.Patio Set - A lock designed with a half cylinder or turn knob inside tolock the outside knob.Pivoting Sash - Window sash with a sash arm assembly thatenables it to be opened outward as in both casement and awningapplications.Powdercoat - Polyester-based coating for aluminium productsproviding a smooth colour finish.Pressure die-cast - When metal is forced into a mould tomanufacture products requiring thinner wall sections.Pre-treatment - Chemical process that cleans off oil, dirt and othercontamination before final finish is applied, and provides corrosionprotection in some cases.Profile high/low - How far the handle of a window fastener is setfrom the base. Low profile is necessary when the handle must fitbehind a fly screen or sliding door.PSH - Projected Side Hung window – casement.PTH - Projected Top Hung window – awning.Projected Windows - Windows that open outward.“Pull-in” Feature - <strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong>’s patented pull-in effect creates a tightweatherproof seal around the window sash.RH - Right-hand.Reversible Latch - The ability to reverse the bevelled side of the latch tosuit a choice of left or right hand closing.Rivet - Joins frame plate, sash plate, long arm and short arm together ona friction hinge.S4B - Sliding 4-Bar stay.Sash - A frame in which the panes of a window or door are set.SBML - Slim Backset Mortice Lock.Securiturn - Removable turning mechanism for lock cylinders. Simpleand secure locking option in place of a conventional key or turn knob.Security Rod - Steel rod for hinged door lock that functions as anadditional locking point.Snib - The latch that activates the locking beaks on sliding door andwindow systems.Special (SPEC) - A special powdercoat colour not one of the mostcommon colours offered by <strong>ASSA</strong> <strong>ABLOY</strong> (P colours).Stay - Friction hinge – top brace and support the window sash foropening. Also known as friction hinge.Stay Selection Matrix - A chart that indicates the most suitable staylength based on a grid matching sash weight and height.Stile - The vertical section of a door in which the lock is housed.Striker - Acts as a receptical for the drop bolt or latch.Sub Fix - The fastener is fixed to the window sash from underneath thebase of the fastener.Surface Mounted - The lock is mounted on the surface of the doorstile.Top Hung Window - Awning window.Transom - A horizontal crosspiece through the middle of a door orwindow.Turn Knob - Turning mechanism that activates the door lock from theinside, a convenient locking option in place of a key.uPVC - Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride. Polyvinyl Chloride is a commonthermoplastic resin that is strong, lightweight, fire-resistant anddurable. Used in window construction.Vertical Sliding Window - Sash window that slides upward.Wedge - Tongue of the window fastener lodges tightly against thewedge to ensure a tight seal between the window sash and the windowframe.Wedgeless Fastener - Has a flap (wedge) attached to the main windowfastener.
