What started as a hobby quickly became a true passion. As alifelong patron of the arts, Peter’s enthusiasm for late 19th century artistsand their artwork was well founded.Peter took great pride in learning about, not only the artistsand their works, but also the history, economy and all thingsrelated to the life and times of the post-impressionist artistsand the artwork they created. Over time though, Peter’spassion became focused on the life and works of Toulouse-Lautrec. Peter thoroughly enjoyed his travels to France wherehe had an opportunity to visit some of Lautrec’s ‘old haunts.Peter also loved the experience of art auctions. He wouldspend considerable time learning about the pieces beingoffered and plotting out his bidding strategy. While his resultswere mixed, he was successful in a great number of his efforts.Over his years of collecting, Peter also developed many strongand lasting friendships in the art world.141142As his interest and knowledge of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrecgrew, his collection expanded to include lithographs anddrawings.
