<strong>Northbridge</strong> Sailing Club <strong>OOD</strong> Duties - 2012-2013Date: Rostered DXORostered Duty Officers: Morning <strong>OOD</strong> Afternoon <strong>OOD</strong> A<strong>OOD</strong>OPENING-UP AND MORNING <strong>OOD</strong> DUTIESJunior Sailing and training commences early on Sunday. As Morning <strong>OOD</strong>, you must <strong>be</strong> at the Club at8:30amRaise the Australian FlagPut on Green Vest kept in the Starters Box to identify yourself as the Duty OfficerTake a fully charged marine radio and check that you have the NSC phone num<strong>be</strong>r (9967 2632)in your mobile phone. This provides an additional means <strong>of</strong> contacting the Clubhouse if necessary.Turn on the gas pilot switch – red is on. (located immediately inside double doors)Place blue bins on deck to collect rubbishOpen toilets.Check gas bottles.Open all boat bays.If one is empty advise treasurer@nsc.asn.au and the DXO.Launch rescue boats ensuring motor clamps are tight motors chained to dinghy, fuel tanks in Retriever.15HP outboards are to <strong>be</strong> mounted and unmounted by two peopleCheck boat fuel and take Retriever to Clontarf Marina if required. (club has account)Retriever - to deck mooring lineConfirm allocation <strong>of</strong> rescue boats for training activities and call events with Junior CaptainPlace mat on pontoon.Unlock tap heads to external taps and put out hoses with trigger nozzles.Put out mooring ropes for Retriever and Orange retrieving line for incoming sailing boats.Don McKenzie - remove covers but do not bring to deck area unless Starter advisesGo to BOM website and get Coastal Waters Forecast for NSW mark on whiteboard <strong>be</strong>hind window at front <strong>of</strong>clubhouse.Consult with the Junior Captain and organise the course to <strong>be</strong> laidOnce the Junior Sailing is completed bring in at least one Rescue BoatDURING THE DAY – MORNING AND AFTERNOON <strong>OOD</strong>Organise and control manning <strong>of</strong> rescue boats – this is your most important duty Any rescue boat that <strong>can</strong> go faster than 10 knots must have a Licensed Driver Each person must wear a PFD Each boat must have two people Each boat must have working radio and maintain radio contact The driver <strong>of</strong> any Club owned boat that <strong>can</strong> travel at speeds greater than 10 knots must have a Boat License The driver <strong>of</strong> any Club owned boat must have a deadman attached to his/her wrist At least one boat is always available for emergency use Once the boats have left the Club, ensure that one rescue boat patrols areas <strong>be</strong>yond the line <strong>of</strong> sight to theClubhouseSupervise the rigging deck ensuring that: All passageways are left clear – whether rigging boards, cradles, hoses or sailing bags. Boats occupy rigging deck in positions that facilitate access for later arrivals. Arrange people to lift boats to and from the water - It is not the duty <strong>of</strong> the <strong>OOD</strong> to personally lift boats Boats leaving the rigging deck do not reserve their rigging area for return Boats are unrigged and cleared from the deck without unnecessary delay.Ensure orderly parking arrangements in the lower car park.<strong>OOD</strong> <strong>duties</strong> 28Aug2012 page 1 <strong>of</strong> 2


AFTERNOON <strong>OOD</strong> AND A<strong>OOD</strong> DUTIES AND CLOSING UPON ARRIVAL (1300h)Obtain the Green Vest from the Morning <strong>OOD</strong> to identify yourself as the Duty Officer and put on a PFDTake a fully charged marine radio and check that you have the NSC phone num<strong>be</strong>r (9967 2632)in your mobile phone.
