May 30, 2012<strong>GRADE</strong> <strong>LEVEL</strong> <strong>CELEBRATIONS</strong>Grade level celebrations will be held Tuesday, June 5 th for the sixth grade andWednesday, June 6 th for the seventh grade. Both of these will begin at 10 AM andbe conducted in the gymnasium. The eighth grade celebration will be held Thursday,June 7 th at 9:00 AM in the gymnasium. I want to remind you that students who havenot yet met the promotion criteria will not be able to attend the grade levelcelebrations.CRCT SCORESCRCT scores have been sent home for your child. These are the unofficial scoresas official scores will be sent home with the yearend report cards. These will bemailed on June 14 th . Students in eighth grade who did not pass the Reading orMath Portion of the CRCT will take the retest on June 5 th and June 6 th . Eighthgrade students must pass both portions in order to be promoted.DRESS DOWN DAY FOR STUDENTS AND STAFFFriday, June 1st will be a “Dress Down Day” for staff and students. A donation of$2 will be collected for eighth grade week and PBIS incentives. Students must havean ID Badge in order to dress down. Students must meet the requirements aspublished in the Student/Parent Handbook for Success (page 31) for student dressdown days. Shirts must be tucked-in and appropriate. No sagging or baggy pants.Please make sure that you approve your child’s attire before he/she leaves forschool. Thank you for your help!!!SUMMER READING PROGRAMYour child will bring home a Summer Reading Program Booklet Friday, June 1 st .Each child in grade 6 through 8 are required to read 6 books over the summer.Your child’s lexile score has been written on the cover of the book. Please lookover this important requirement and develop a plan to help your child meet thesummer reading requirement. Thank you for your help!!!!


REPORT CARDSReport cards for the 4 th marking period and the yearend report card will be mailedJune 14th. Please make sure that you have updated your current mailing addresswith the Information Specialist.SUMMER SCHOOLSummer School will be held at Bartlett Middle School for those students who didnot pass the SRI reading requirement for seventh grade and those students who didnot pass subjects for the year. Students may only take two courses. SummerSchool will be held from July 2 nd through July 30 th . The hours for summer schoolare 8:00 until noon. Transportation is not provided. Registration for summer schoolwill take place June 28 th and June 29 th from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm. Your will benotified by your child’s teacher if he/she must attend summer school in order to bepromoted. If you have questions, please contact the school counselor.ATTENDANCE WAIVERSStudent who have missed more than seven (7) days during a semester and fifteen(15) days during the school year did not meet the requirements as outlined in BOEPolicy JBA. This can be found on page 32 of the Student/Parent Handbook forSuccess. Students in grades 1 through 8 who are passing all other requirements forpromotion may apply for an attendance waiver. Attendance waivers have been senthome with your child and need to be returned to the counselors by June 1 st .Students who do not submit the waiver will be retained in accordance with BOEPolicy JBA.LOST OR DAMAGED TEXTBOOKS/BOOK FINESStudents will be receiving notification next week for lost or damaged textbooks andbook fines. These fines must be paid or the book returned before yearend reportcards will be mailed. Please make sure that you ensure that your child has returnedall textbooks and media center books.
