Healthy Families Fairfax
“My family support
worker taught me so
much about being a
parent—how to take
care of my child,
resources to help
him grow and how
he should be
developing. Her
expertise and
knowledge were
invaluable.”
-Geimy, HFF Graduate
Healthy Families Fairfax (HFF) is an intensive home visitation program that
successfully prevents child abuse and neglect in high-risk families. HFF is a
creative collaboration of three Northern Virginia nonprofits (UCM, Northern
Virginia Family Service and Reston Interfaith) and Fairfax County's
Department of Family Services and Department of Health. HFF provides
home-based parenting education, health information, and community support
to high-risk first-time parents from pregnancy until the child reaches age five.
HFF FY 2011 Accomplishments
Served 627 at-risk families and ensured that not a single case of abuse or
neglect was found
Provided 1,180 screenings for developmental delays
Conducted 7,155 home visits to support families in need
