What is a Credit? - LSN

• Credits are earned as a student passes a classin high school (F hurts = no credit)• ½ credit is earned per semester for each classthe student passes (7 classes=3.5 credits eachsemester)• 26 units of credit are required to graduatefrom LSN with a Diploma• Example: 7 credits/year for 4 years = 28 credits

• 4.0 Credits REQUIRED•English 9, 10, 11, 12If a student fails a semesteralong the way, the student will berequired to attend summer school orcomplete recovery course on-line.

Every student at LSN is assigned a BEST mentor group.The goals of the BEST program are to help students:•Gain responsibility for their academic future•Develop an awareness of their strengths and weaknesses•Acquire skills necessary for success in a diverse community•Get to know a smaller group of students who will staytogether for all 4 years at LSN•Build bond with LSN adult on informal basis•Mentor is liaison to parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators•Students meet in BEST groups every Wednesday after first hourfor 15 minutes

• LSN Staff prepare schedules based onstudent requests• Highest number of students possible areplaced in requested courses. Choosealternates wisely…you may get them!!• Students receive schedule during summerprior to start of school• Imperative that students choose classesyou can live with as schedule changes willnot be granted in August
