GREETINGS FROM THE
I am delighted to be ending our fiscal year
and ushering in the summer season with
the exciting news that Liberty Lutheran’s
family has gained a new member.
In June, the Life Care
Retirement Community,
the Village at Penn State
(VPS) in State College, Pa.,
joined the Liberty Family
of Services, bringing with
it a dedicated staff and a
dynamic resident population.
Several of our Board and staff members
know first-hand what “Happy Valley” has
to offer as a center of learning, culture,
and entertainment, as do the many VPS
residents who have chosen to retire there.
This University-based retirement community
is a unique addition to our portfolio of care,
offering a culturally active and intellectually
stimulating lifestyle to seniors who view
each day as yet another opportunity for
life-long learning.
For over a year we have been in conversation
with VPS, recognizing that there
are many synergies between our two
organizations and many opportunities to

the residents there. The quality of care
at VPS is exceptional and it’s hard to
miss the special bond and deep respect
between the staff and its residents.
The seniors who call VPS home, most
college graduates themselves, are
motivated, curious, and upbeat. How
could they be anything but in this
stimulating environment?

issue of At Liberty. Our official celebration,
“Dancing Under the Stars,” will
be held July 11th, bringing together
supporters, residents, staff, and the
Penn State community. Please join me
