The School<br />
<strong>Copenhagen</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Fashion</strong> <strong>Design</strong> is a private school aimed at teaching<br />
clothes design. The school was founded in 1983 by Marianne Duchwaider. The<br />
development <strong>of</strong> the students’ creative skills is the <strong>Academy</strong>’s highest priority.<br />
This is done by giving the students an artistic and visual understanding <strong>of</strong> good<br />
design as well as a thorough knowledge <strong>of</strong> the various disciplines relevant to the<br />
design trade.<br />
The academy also <strong>of</strong>fers insight to the many facets and demands <strong>of</strong> the pr<strong>of</strong>ession<br />
through lectures from well-known designers. The purpose <strong>of</strong> the lectures is<br />
to prepare the students for what life as a pr<strong>of</strong>essional designer entails.<br />
Students <strong>of</strong> the academy are eligible for a state education grant (SU) as per SU’s<br />
rules for higher educations. Graduates from the academy are also eligible for<br />
joining Teknisk Landsforbund, the union for designers.
