ZOOLOGYBIRDSThis year starts with the successful hatching offive Emus under natural parental incubationin their enclosure. Bird House received majorupgrading of facilities and exhibits during the yearwhich include the upgrading of the Milky Storkaviary, kitchen, office rooms, new bird cage, newbird photo corner and second tram station. Mostof these facilities were built 21 years ago. Withthe spruce up facilities, the Bird House is nowready to further excel in the captive breeding ofendangered bird species. At the end of <strong>2007</strong>, thetotal bird species of 127 with 1342 specimens wererecorded.Breeding ProgrammeThe Bird House has been blessed with numeroussuccesses in captive breeding of endangered birdspecies. In <strong>2007</strong>, 16 species of birds were bredin captivity and because <strong>Zoo</strong> <strong>Negara</strong> has over300 adult specimens, the Painted Stork (Mycterialeucocephala) remained to be the most prolificbreeders.
