TWIST
As designers sought inspiration in echoes of the
past, retro influences and lush textures emerged
as the important trends on fashion runways for fall
2011. An intense focus on sumptuous and lavish
fabrics highlighted the weightless luxury of the softest
cashmere and lofty mohair, the richness of fine wools
and traditional tweeds, the sheer indulgence of classic
silks and buttery leathers. The predominant palette
embraced deep, autumnal browns, crimson reds,
and rich golds, with accents of pinky neutrals and
heathered grays. A myriad of vintage influences were
at work in the fall 2011 designer collections. Ethereal
silks and tailored satins evoked 1940s glamour;
textures and shapes recalled 1950s grace and 1960s
chic...all with an updated, modern sensibility.

WRAP YOURSELF IN TRUE ELEGANCE
The inspiration: lasting beauty, a breeze of 1950s
style, an appreciation for true elegance. Sumptuous
textures and soft colors evoke a wrap of finest
cashmere, threads of soft gold, a strand of perfect
pearls. In designing the fall 2011 ARTISTRY
Colour Collection, master makeup artist Itsuki found
inspiration in nature’s lush textures, most flattering hues,
and shimmering pools of light. This calming collection of
custom-created colors for eyes, cheeks and lips strikes a
perfect balance of classic beauty and timeless glamour.
The options are endless, and the results, simply chic.

BEAUTY INSPIRATION
Ethereal, Shimmering Beauty
On fall runways, elegantly refined
faces—classic neutrals with a bit
of shimmer on the eyes, a splash
of color on the lips—were the perfect foil to
looks that blended retro style and forward
fashion. A sophisticated mix of ethereal
neutrals set the stage for accents of vibrant
color. Teased-up beehives and crimson lips
showed a bold embrace of modern glamour.
High ponytails and shimmery eyes injected
a dash of youthful fun.
Paired with rich silks, refined tweeds and
luxe cashmeres, the refreshing new neutral
face reflects a return to true elegance.
Refined, matte lips are paired with luminous,
softly accented eyes. Intricately detailed
colors dance with a burst of gold mica and
an infusion of reflective light, offset by
smudges of charcoal and bronze. Energizing

pencil one shade darker than your lipstick.
Fill in lips entirely with pencil, then apply

Elegant neutrals, as found
in nature, inspire sun-kissed

APPLICATION
Coco Brown Eyes, Soft Pink Cheeks,
Pinky Beige Lips
• Using the ARTISTRY medium eye shadow
brush, apply the taupe eye shadow to the eye
crease to create a natural contour.
• With the ARTISTRY angled brush, line the outer
corner of the upper and lower eyelids with the
copper brown eye shadow. Moisten the brush
for more controlled and intense effect.
• Apply the white shimmer eye shadow to
the middle of the eyelid and inside corner.
This shade can also be dusted on top of
cheekbones for a soft highlight.
• Finish eyes with the ARTISTRY Total Mascara
on the top lashes, applying close to the root
for definition.
• Apply Soft Pink blush along the cheekbones,
adding more to the apples of the cheeks for
a healthy glow.
• Finish by applying Pink Beige lip colour to the
lips. Blend with a fingertip for a natural look.

Eyeliner pencil along the upper lash line using
the attached smudger to soften the line.

brush, apply light gray eye shadow along the
upper eyelid, blending into the crease.
• Using the ARTISTRY angled brush apply dark
gray eye shadow along the lash line following
the eyeliner pencil.
• Apply pink shimmer to the corner of the
eye lids.

Ponytails, beehives and multi-textured tresses were in abundance on the fall 2011 runways in Paris.
Designers took a step back from flamboyant makeup and opted instead for a classic, tailored look.
While color was strong in New York and London, Milan opted for a more subtle approach, with a
single slick of primary hues on the eyes or a smear of red on the lips. From buns to braids to slick
straight hair, Milan and New York offered plenty of wearable hair looks.

THE
SCENES
In a light-filled loft in Manhattan’s trendy
SoHo neighborhood, a team of the world’s
top talents came together to create classic,
gorgeous images for the ARTISTRY Fall
2011 Trend Collection. Makeup master Itsuki,
whose clients include Heidi Klum, Kylie Minogue,
Iman and Rosario Dawson, took both models from
clearly pretty to luminously gorgeous with ARTISTRY
Lavish in Cashmere Collection. Under the direction of
internationally acclaimed creative director
Olivier Van Doorne, a team of stylists finessed
hair and wardrobe for the perfect effect,
while visual artists sculpted the light. When
the stage was set, world renowned fashion
photographer Lachlan Bailey stepped up to
the camera. As the New York sky melted
from day to dusk, he captured images of
iconic elegance and timeless beauty, the
perfect portrait of ARTISTRY.
LACHLAN BAILEY
Lachlan Bailey is widely regarded as one of today’s most
talented fashion and portrait photographers. Visually astute,
technically precise, and creatively bold, he creates artistic
images and features for the top names in print: Vogue
Nippon, Harpers Bazaar, Vogue Spain, MUSE, Vogue UK,
Numero, Vogue China, and more. Originally from Australia,
Bailey studied film and photography in Melbourne before
moving to London in 2001. Spotted by several influential
magazines and editors, his work propelled him to artistic
stardom in a few short years. Influenced at an early age by
cinematography, Bailey creates pictures with a uniquely
personal take on color, light and beauty.
