ummercienceplashCamp<strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Science</strong> <strong>Splash</strong> Campis a week-long residentialsummer camp funded by theII-VI Foundation and hostedby <strong>Science</strong> in Motion on thecampus of <strong>Juniata</strong> <strong>College</strong>.What will you be doing?Spend your day performing experiments in the lab andoutdoors using the same high-tech equipment collegestudents and research scientists use. During free timeenjoy water activities, tennis, swimming and othersplashing competitions. At night, play games or sports,watch movies or talk with new friends. Between dailyexperiments and nightly events, work with your team togain points for prizes.Who is attending?Students entering 7th, 8th or 9thgrade in 2013 can register. Studentscome from across Pennsylvania andbeyond. (Maximum of 60 studentsper session.)What does it cost?Underwritten by a grant from theII-VI Foundation, each session’s costis $255 per student ($1,095 value).The cost includes meals, lodging,snacks, activities and camp T-shirts.When is the <strong>Summer</strong> <strong>Science</strong> <strong>Splash</strong> Camp?Choose from three sessions:July 14–19, July 21–26 or July 28–August 2.Students should arrive Sunday afternoon by 3:00 p.m. anddepart Friday afternoon around 2:00 p.m.It is necessary that all campers be present for the entiretime. Campers will be engaged in team competitions;therefore, they will be required to stay for the entireweek. Please be fair to campers that can stay!Who will I work with?Certified science teachersfrom local school districtsinstruct the labs during theday. They not only facilitatelab activities, they developmany of them prior tocamp with the assistanceof camp counselors, inorder to provide newexciting investigations.Camp counselorssupervise students in the lateafternoons, evenings and overnight.Staff consists of well-trained<strong>Juniata</strong> students eager to share theirenthusiasm for science and teamwork.Are the dorm rooms air-conditioned?No, but you’re strongly encouraged tobring a fan.The teacherto student ratiois 1 to 12.One counselorto every 9students.Will there be anything good to eat?The cafeteria serves youth-friendly foodon a daily basis in the summer and canaccommodate allergies and vegetarian diets.
