20B r i g a d e F o u n d a t i o nSanta’s in theQuadrangle!THE <strong>BRIGADE</strong> SCHOOL @ J. P. NAGARA Christmas Special Assembly was held onthe last working day of our second term. Inkeeping with the yuletide spirit, the lobbywas festively decorated and a crib of Jesusheld pride of place.The students of Std 6 sang a medleyof Christmas carols. The highpoint of theAssembly—especially for the youngerstudents—was the arrival of Santa(aka Jaijagadish, PT Instructor) in thequadrangle!We will miss you!The Pre-graduation Ceremony for our fourth batch of Standard 12 students was held on theevening of the 20 February at the MLR Convention Centre. Nandan Kamath, an eminent sportslawyer, graced the solemn occasion as the Chief Guest.The dignitaries on the dais included: M. R. Jaishankar, CMD, <strong>Brigade</strong> <strong>Group</strong>; Githa Shankar,Chairperson, <strong>Brigade</strong> Foundation; Thampi, Member of the Governing Council and Shalini Jagadish,Principal, The <strong>Brigade</strong> School @ J. P. Nagar.The outgoing School Captain Sharjeel Yunus handed over the school flag to the newlyelected School Captain Kumaresh Krishnan, signaling the handing over of his responsibilities. Theevening included the much awaited prize distribution. Rashika Saraswat was declared the BestOutgoing Student. Subject Toppers were: Rashika Saraswat in English, Niharika B. in ComputerScience, Roshini B. in Biology and Pradeep B. in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.The theme was Egypt, the mood electric!Students of the Pre-primary celebrated theirAnnual Day on 27 February. The theme wasEgypt, the children’s mood was electric andthe audience was ready for some goodentertainment. They were not disappointed!Students of UKG welcomed the gathering withsong. The tiny tots then delighted the audiencewith a wonderful dance performance (theirbeautiful costumes were much appreciatedtoo). The next event on the programme was ashort play—A night in the Egyptian museum—with a big cast: all 108 LKG children! Theevening ended with an enchanting dance"Egyptian" belly dancersdrama, Chota Bheem‘s journey to Petra in Egypt, presented by the children of UKG.Student Council ElectionThe third Annual Student Council Electionwas held on the 20 January. Studentsof Class 6 to 12 cast their votes forthe School Captain, House Captainsand House Vice-Captains.Making Space for MindspaceAtMindspaceAnnualDay, thetheme ofthe year—Egypt—wasexplored inbreadth and depth. On proud display wereprojects that took you on a journey throughEgypt, a radio show and 3000 years ofhistory depicted in ten minutes through astreet play.The Pre-primary section demonstratedtheir understanding of concepts learntby giving presentations with Montessoriactivities. Their enthusiasm and confidencewere a joy to behold.THE <strong>BRIGADE</strong> SCHOOL @ MALLESWARAM…The swimming poolat The <strong>Brigade</strong> School@ Malleswaram wasinaugurated on 24 February 2012 in a smallceremony attended by school staff, Brigadiers,parents and friends. Chief Guest, Father JoseAikara, Chairman, ICSE cut the ribbon, afterwhich Olympian Nisha Millet and her teamfrom the Nisha Millet Swimming Academydelighted the audience with swimmingdisplays. Chirag Bipin Kundagol, the championswimmer from our school at J.P. Nagar,also demonstrated his swimming skills. TheAcademy will be coaching students of The<strong>Brigade</strong> Schools in the coming year.New swimming pool inaugurated!Father Jose Aikara, Chairman, ICSE, with Githa Shankar,Chairperson, <strong>Brigade</strong> Foundation, Roshin Mathew, President,<strong>Brigade</strong> <strong>Group</strong> and Jagan Mohan, VP—HR, <strong>Brigade</strong> <strong>Group</strong>.The Nisha Millet Academy in action at the new roof-topswimming pool at the <strong>Brigade</strong> School @ Malleswaram.We at The <strong>Brigade</strong> School have always believed in alert minds in healthy bodies … What better place to expandyour lungs than on the playing fields and swimming pool And what better person to motivate you than a young,high achiever like Nisha Millet.
