The European Society for Education and Communication (ESEC) <strong>awards</strong>the Erasmus EuroMedia Prices for outstanding productions and programmesin the sector of media dealing with European Values (society,culture/education and politics). Since 1995 the Erasmus EuroMediaAwards have been given to a considerable amount of producers with highprofile for their media oeuvres interpreting Europe.The ESEC Erasmus EuroMedia Award Ceremony will take place in Vienna(Rathaus Wien) on October 10th, 2008The Erasmus EuroMedia Awards 2008 are endowed with 9.000 EUR intotal. This sum will be distributed among the winners of the ErasmusEuroMedia Award, the Erasmus Sponsorship Awards and the ErasmusSpecial Awards.Apart from the donation, the value of the award mainly lies in the factthat the awarded projects gain international attention. Moreover these<strong>awards</strong> have always been a good reason and criterion for receiving financialsupport of future projects given by public institutions. Within thepast years with its Erasmus EuroMedia Awards, the ESEC has becomean international competent network entity between various projects andproject operators. Due to different languages the evaluation will becarried out under the supervision of the national ESEC Representativesand ESEC Experts. All submissions that correspond to the catalogue ofcriteria will be awarded with the Erasmus EuroMedia Seal of Approval.2. stage (ranking)All submissions achieving the Seal of Approval will automatically takepart in the Erasmus EuroMedia Awards Contest.Erasmus EuroMedia Grand Award 2008 (EUR 3.000)The international jury of experts will select the application with most outstandingperformance, depth in topic, critical and/or analytic referenceto reality and/or innovative format from the Erasmus Seal awarded projects..Erasmus EuroMedia Sponsorship Awards 2008(in total EUR 3.000)The international jury of experts will chose projects with special thematicfocus on current debates, controversial topics and investigative formats.Erasmus EuroMedia Special Awards 2008 (each with EUR 1.000)The international jury of experts will assign winners according to the followingcategories:■■■Educational and EthicsDiscourse and PoliticsAesthetic and DesignErasmus EuroMedia Country Focus 2008The main goal of ESEC is to bring the idea of Europe with its differentcultures, traditions and values together. Thus it is essential to show theseregional and national specific traditions and stories. 2008 the CountryFocus will be on Czech Republic. With this specific award category ESECwants to give the best of Czech organizations, producers, groups andothers the opportunity to present their works to the European partners.AWARDThe candidates will be informed by August 30th 2008 about the ErasmusSeal of Approval Certification and the Erasmus Awards Nomination.The Winner of the Erasmus EuroMedia Award 2008, the Winners of theErasmus EuroMedia Sponsorship Awards 2008, the Winner of the ErasmusEuroMedia Special Awards 2008 and the Winners of the ErasmusEuroMedia Country Focus 2008 will be announced at the ESEC ErasmusEuroMedia Award Ceremony on October 10th 2008.
