year 8 report
The year has progressed
very quickly and the
‘newbie’ Year 8s
are now well seasoned high
school <strong>students</strong>. The initial
nerves and anxieties have long
since disappeared. It’s now the
downhill stretch to the end of
the year but we shouldn’t get
too laid back, as there are many
more weeks of learning and
assessments to go.
However it’s not ‘all work and
no play’. At the end of Semester Reward Activities, the
Year 8s spent the day at Perth Zoo. This outing provided an
opportunity for <strong>students</strong> to interact and bond with their form
teachers in a non academic environment.
Later this term the Year 8s will be provided with opportunities
to participate in lunch time inter-house House Events and
Competitions that will be organised and run by the Year 11
mentors. Students should keep their ears and eyes open for
news and announcements calling for teams and volunteers.
In a recent assembly, Year Coordinator Awards were
presented to outstanding <strong>students</strong> who demonstrated above
average community spirit and / or personal qualities that value
add to <strong>our</strong> social and academic lives here at Churchlands
SHS. They were: Tristan Tan, Sophie Ibbitson, Heer Gudka,
Tamika Reid, Riverson Robbins and Anri Barnard.
