On the SceneZora Neale Hurston Memorial DedicationOct. 9, 2010Fort PierceWarm weather and blue skies welcomed the dedication ceremony forthe Zora Neale Hurston sculpture created by artist James Liccione near hergravesite in Fort Pierce. Hurston, who lived her last years in Fort Pierce,wrote the celebrated “Their Eyes Were Watching God.’’ Her gravesite wasunmarked until fellow writer Alice Walker discovered it in 1973. The sculptureis the latest improvement to the gravesite. Welcoming remarks weregiven by Jon Ward and the invocation was given by the Rev.
