Introduction:Vitallium 2000 Investment System, with a 2000° F burnout temperature,is designed for Vitallium 2000Alloys. The investment is a highgradesilica product formulated toprovide consistent and uniformexpansion for producing accuratefitting cast partial frameworks.Vitallium 2000 Investment Systemhas a two-component liquid systemutilizing a concentrated Liquid “B”to be added to the Liquid “A” forease of mixing.Instructions for MixingInvestment LiquidPrepare only the amount of liquidwhich can be used within three days.To make 4 liters of Vitallium 2000Investment Liquid, pour the completecontents of Vitallium 2000 Liquid “B”(ReOrder# N022610) into the bottleof Vitallium 2000 Liquid “A” Binder(ReOrder# N022605). These componentshave been packaged in quantitiesto achieve the proper ratio. If less than 4 liters of liquid is desired, mix one part of Vitallium 2000 Liquid“B” with seven parts of Vitallium2000 Liquid “A” in a separate plasticor glass container with a cap.Vigorously mix Liquid “A” and Liquid“B” for at least ten minutes to assureproper mixing. (Loosen cap torelease any pressure which maydevelop due to the slight increase inthe temperature of the solution). Thesolution will appear clear (notcloudy) when properly mixed. Amagnetic stir is recommended.Seal the container and allow themixed solution to age for 3 hours ina refrigerator at 40˚F before use.NOTE: Mixed liquid should beused within three days. Discardany liquid more than threedays old, observing local codes.Model Duplication1. Duplicate the surveyed andrelieved master model usingPerflex ® Duplicating Material(ReOrder# N021055). Followthe label instructions for propermelt-down, dispensing andchilling procedures.2. For optimal surface smoothnesson the refractory model, use AllPurpose Protective Coat(ReOrder# N025925). Shakeor mix well before using. Pour aquantity of Protective Coat intothe cavity of the Perflex moldand rotate the mold to uniformlycoat all surfaces. Invert themold and shake or vibrate outany excess to prevent puddling.Allow Protective Coat to dry toan egg shell appearance (for 8-10 minutes) before pouring therefractory model. For additionalinformation, consult the instructionpamphlet which accompaniesthe Protective Coat.3. Vitallium 2000 Investment/Liquidratio for refractory models–For one Refractory Model:300g of Vitallium 2000Investment and 60cc preparedVitallium 2000 Investment Liquid.1

Mix enough investment forno more than four models atone time.Using a clean bowl, thoroughlymix Vitallium 2000 InvestmentPowder and Vitallium 2000Investment Liquid. Pour the mixtureinto the Perflex mold, beingcareful not to entrap air bubbles.Transfer case to a vibratingtable to allow the mold tovibrate until the Vitallium 2000Investment is set (approximately15-20 minutes). Remove thecase from the vibrating tableand allow it to bench set for anadditional 30 minutes.4. Remove the refractory modelgently from the Perflex moldand trim it on a model trimmer. After trimming, the base of themodel should be at least a 1 /2inch thick and the perimeter ofthe model should be taperedtoward the base and be free ofany sharp corners.5. Place the refractory model in acold oven and heat it to 450˚F(232˚C) and soak for 45 minutes. Then, submerge the refractorymodel for 8-10 seconds inRefractory Model Dip(ReOrder# N010540) that hasbeen heated to a temperatureof 325˚F (163˚C). Remove therefractory model and place ona wire rack to allow the excessmodel dip to drain off. Allowthe refractory model to cool toroom temperature.NOTE: Refractory Model2Dip should be meltedunder a fume hood.Wax-Up and Spruing1. Wax-up case on refractorymodel using Flexseal ® Patterns.2. Attach sprues using conventionalwax-up techniques.Investing1. Wax the prepared refractorymodel to a base using AmberWax (ReOrder# N015740).2. Prepare case for investing byapplying a coat of All PurposeProtective Coat according todirections.3. Prepare an investing ring whichwill allow at least 1 /2 inch clearancearound and above therefractory model. (PreformedFoil Lined Investment RingsReOrder# N123902 andN123903 are recommended tobe used with Bottom N125104.)The ring should extend at least 11 /2 inches above the highestpoint of the model to allow forthe proper tapping and settingof the investment.Do not use solid metal rings.4. Vitallium 2000Investment/Liquid ratio forbacking up investment mixture:For one ring: 600g Vitallium2000 Investment and 120ccprepared Vitallium 2000Investment Liquid.Mix enough investment for nomore than two rings.

Mix investment and liquid thoroughlyand pour the mixture, carefully filling the ring.Transfer the case to a vibratingtable and allow the mold tovibrate until set (approximately15-20 minutes). After theVitallium 2000 Investment hasset, remove it from the vibratingtable and allow it to set anadditional 30 minutes.5. Grind down the excessVitallium 2000 Investment fromthe top of the case (rings) usinga model trimmer. Leave at least1 /2 inch of Vitallium 2000Investment above the highestpoint of the refractory model, and allow it to set an additionalone hour before burnout.Burnout and Casting1. Place the rings in a cool furnaceand heat to 1200˚F (649˚C)and hold for 30 minutes.2. Increase the furnace temperatureto 2000˚F (1093˚C) andsoak for one hour.3. Remove rings from furnace andcast using V-2000 or V-2000Plus alloy. Follow casting instructionsprovided for the alloy.4. Allow cases to bench cool priorto divesting.
