The course gives a strong emphasis on understandingconstruction plans, dimensions, datums, survey marks, accuracies, elevations and layouts toenable all participants to confidently appreciate the works scope and detail. Basic measurements,<strong>of</strong>fsetting and marking out for construction works are discussed and demonstrated.Understanding with field exercises using levelling equipment and level reductions to establish design heights gives field staffnew skills. The course reinforces field checking, recording, basic calculations and good survey techniques. This practicalcourse covers the skills needed to set out construction works common on NZ projects. This coursesuits foremen, site supervisors and project managers who require a rounded appreciation <strong>of</strong> allconstruction aspects. The course covers the use <strong>of</strong> total stations, levelling and GPS equipment.Included is an understanding and manipulation <strong>of</strong> coordinates, survey calculations, company QAsurvey requirements and onsite survey safety.Field exercises cover the setout <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fset marking for crossfalls, grades and alignment for roads and kerbing and the positionalsetout <strong>of</strong> small detailed construction works for both position and level from coordinate and dimensional plans.
