SERVICES PROVIDED IN METRO EAST, ILChestnut Health SystemsMental Health ServicesChestnut offers individual, group, couples and family therapy for thetreatment of psychiatric illnesses such as depression and anxiety.Specialized treatment groups and classes address issues such as trauma,communication skills, anger management, parenting skills and stressmanagement. Twenty-four hour crisis intervention for persons who areexperiencing a psychiatric emergency and may need assistance withhospitalization. Additionally, Chestnut operates a 10-bed crisis residentialunit in Granite City that may be used to stabilize persons at risk ofhospitalization or as a step down for persons being discharged frompsychiatric hospitalization.Services for Persons with a Serious Mental IllnessChestnut’s programs have a strong community focus and address thevaried needs of people with severe and persistent mental illnessesincluding persons who are homeless. Services include skills classes,community support, therapy, case management, co-occurring disorderservices and referrals, clubhouses, supervised and supported housing,and vocational programs.Affordable Housing for Persons with a MentalIllness and/or a Substance Abuse ProblemChestnut is committed to developing and offering an array of affordablehousing for persons who may be homeless and have a mental illnessand/or a substance abuse problem. Chestnut’s housing programs havegrown to include more than 250 supervised, supported and scattered siteunits in both St. Clair and Madison counties. On-site services may includeskills training, psychiatric and nursing services, medication management,individual and group counseling, substance abuse treatment and socialand recreational programming.Alcohol and Drug Services for Teens and AdultsNationally recognized as a leading provider of alcohol and drugtreatment, Chestnut’s programs continually improve the quality ofservices and outcomes through collaborations with Lighthouse Institute,Chestnut’s applied behavioral research, training and publications division.Chestnut offers a full continuum of substance abuse treatment servicesfor adolescents ages 12 through 18 including outpatient, intensiveoutpatient, day treatment/partial hospital and gender-specific inpatientservices. In addition, Chestnut offers gender-specific outpatient andintensive outpatient treatment, drug screening; drug court services andproblematic gambling treatment for adult men and women.Credit Counseling ServicesChestnut Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) helps individuals andfamilies with financial problems by assisting with budget planning,money management, planned debt liquidation and credit bureaureview. In addition, CCCS offers both credit counseling and pre-dischargedebtor education required by law for persons filing bankruptcy. CCCS isaccredited by the Council on Accreditation and a member of the NationalFoundation for Credit Counseling.Making a Difference.
