Melissa serves as the literacycoordinator for her school and hasreally put her <strong>Liberty</strong> education to thetest. She will attend The University ofTexas at Austin this fall.2007Daniel Batey married Jennifer Hayeson June 11 and graduated from TexasA&M in May. At graduation, hereceived the Doherty award, which ispresented to the outstanding graduateof each ROTC who has earned amilitary commission. This monetaryaward is given to a student who hashigh moral character, completed fouryears in the Corps of Cadets at TexasA&M, believes in God, has a strongfeeling for patriotism for both countryand state, and is a faithful Aggie whohas earned the trust and admirationof the Corps and the student body atlarge. Daniel and his wife, Jennifer,will live in College Station until theend of the year. They will then moveto Fort Benning, Ga., where Danielwill begin his Army officer training inJanuary.Loren Gallo is a May graduate of TexasA&M Corpus Christi, with a Bachelorof Science in Biology. She has appliedto Oregon State University forgraduate work, and will also interviewwith Fish and Wildlife there, whereshe interned in Corpus Christi.Caitlin Giesler graduated fromTexas A&M in May with a degreein kinesiology. She will immediatelystart physical therapy school at TheUniversity of Texas at El Paso.Michael McGee is a May graduateof Dallas Baptist University, with aBachelor of Science in Kinesiology,specializing in exercise science. Hefeels the Lord is calling him to ministryin the area of planting churches in theinner cities.Brit’ny Spain earned herundergraduate degree in 2010 fromAbilene <strong>Christian</strong> University in threeyears. This past year, she has workedtoward a specialist’s degree in <strong>School</strong>Psychology while speaking at collegiateand professional research conferences,including the Texas Association of<strong>School</strong> Psychologists and the TexasCouncil on Undergraduate Research.She will begin working toward herdoctorate in <strong>School</strong> Psychology atOklahoma State University in August.In addition, she recently becameengaged to Jonathan Stein. Jonathanis currently pursuing his Master ofDivinity degree at Abilene <strong>Christian</strong>University.2006Thomas Deetjen graduated cum laudefrom Texas A&M in 2010 with aBachelor of Science in MechanicalEngineering, a minor in German, anda certificate in Business Managementfor Engineers. He married KatieMcGrath, his Aggie sweetheart(Whoop!), who is from Allen, Texas,on January 22. They live in Dallasand attend the Watermark Church.Thomas is an engineer with Burns-McDonnell Engineering Firm, andKatie works for The Richards GroupAdvertising Company in Dallas.Monica Lacy has completed a semesterof her master’s/doctorate track atVanderbilt University, preparing tospecialize in biophysics. Her researchbegan after the spring semester. Sheserves as a teaching assistant forundergraduate astronomy labs andloves Nashville.Peter Robinson, after graduatingfrom <strong>Liberty</strong>, was accepted to BaylorUniversity as a University Scholar,one of the most competitive programswithin the Honors College. As anundergraduate, he conducted scientificresearch on the genetic basis of heartdefects at Baylor College of Medicineand on protein degradation at StanfordUniversity. He synthesized potentialanti-cancer drugs as his honors thesis,work for which he was awardedan Outstanding Thesis Award. Hegraduated Honors with Distinctionfrom Baylor in 2010, with emphases inBiology, Chemistry, and Mathematics.He currently attends the University ofCalifornia at Berkeley for a doctoratein Chemistry and Chemical Biologywith full financial support. He creditsthe science program at <strong>Liberty</strong> forpreparing him to succeed in scientificresearch, especially Kathy Hall’s APChemistry class. Macy is three yearsold, and is preparing to become a<strong>Liberty</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> Warrior soon!2002Alicia (Finholt) Insinna is now a fulltimeteacher and coach at <strong>Liberty</strong>after coaching part-time at <strong>Liberty</strong> forfive years while finishing her degreein social sciences at the Universityof North Texas. She teaches SpanishI and coaches Upper <strong>School</strong> girls incross country, soccer, and track. Aftercelebrating their fifth anniversary,Alicia and her husband, Tommy,found out they are expecting a babyin the fall! They live in Corinth andattend The Village Church in FlowerMound.Kris Martin and his wife, Mandy,welcomed Zeke Mitchell Martininto their family on March 31. KrisJustin Staffel graduated from TexasTech in May of 2007 with a Bachelorof Business degree in Marketing andManagement. Shortly thereafter,he was commissioned as a MedicalService Officer in the Army andmarried his wife, Meredith, whois from Denton. Prior to his firstdeployment in Iraq, he was assignedto Fort Carson in Colorado Springs,Colo., where he and his wife continueto reside. While serving in Iraq, hewas the Evacuation Platoon Leaderfor the 2 nd Brigade Combat Team,4 th Infantry Division. Duringdeployment, he managed all of theground and air medical evacuationsin Basrah, which borders Iran. Heis now preparing for a 12-monthdeployment to Afghanistan as theMedical Operations Officer for the2 nd Battalion, 8 th Infantry Regiment.When they are not working, he andMeredith enjoy cooking, outdooractivities, and traveling.1999Chris Searcy, <strong>Liberty</strong>’s Upper <strong>School</strong>youth pastor, received his Masterof Arts in <strong>Christian</strong> Education,with a specialization in Youth andFamily Ministry, from SouthwesternSeminary on May 6. He and his wife,J.J., live in Denton and are the parentsof Mary Jane, 3, and Caden, 9 months.1996Alicia (Mason) Brannan and herhusband, Jeff, are the proud parentsTeresa (Sanders) DeWolf and herhusband, David, have been blessedwith six children. The latest arrival isElizabeth Rose, and her family callsher Rosie. She was born September14, 2010. The DeWolf family movedfrom the town of Flower Moundseven years ago to the state of Virginia.David owns a software developingcompany, and Teresa home schoolstheir children.Mark Gundlach is now Dr. MarkGundlach, Doctor of Chiropractic,after graduating from Parker Collegeof Chiropractic on April 16. He joinedthe office of Village Chiropractic inHighland Village, Texas. He addedthe Doctorate of Chiropractic to hisbachelor’s degree in mathematics,anatomy, and health and wellness, andhis master’s degree in education. Hiswife of 12 years, Marilee, has workedfor several years in the Middle <strong>School</strong>office at <strong>Liberty</strong>. Their two children,Seth, 8, and Gracie, 4, are proudstudents at <strong>Liberty</strong>.Sarah (Goode) Heidler and herhusband, Mike Heidler, <strong>Liberty</strong>graduates, have been married for 12years, and are the parents of Asher, 2,and Noah, 5 months. They currentlylive in Austin where Mike is an attorneywith Vinson & Elkins LLP and Sarahis “retired” from interior designwhile she is a stay-at-home mom.Jennifer (Lyons) Patterson and herhusband, Jacob Patterson, <strong>Liberty</strong>graduates, had a baby named Charlieon June 8, 2010. They also have adaughter named Kylie, who will turn5 in November. They just celebratedtheir 10 th anniversary in May. Theyreside in Shady Shores, Texas, in thehouse they built in 2005.Kristin (Harvey) Shepelwich and herhusband, Keith, welcomed a baby boy,Graham Harvey, in September 2010.His proud big brother is Cade, 3. Theyattend Watermark Church in Dallas,where they both serve in studentministries. Kristin, inspired by theloving ministry she received duringyears at <strong>Liberty</strong> from Kerri DavisScheer and Kelly Epps Skinner, hasbeen discipling the same group of girlsfor the past seven years. She thanksGod for giving her the opportunityto lead and love these girls every yearsince they were sixth graders.Jennifer (DuChemin) Wardlaw,along with her husband, Zach, happilywelcomed daughter Landry Kate intotheir family last September.
