KYLE BLECHADIRECTOR OF MEDICAL SERVICES13TH SEASONFRESNO STATE, 1993DENNIS CORBINASSOCIATE AD OF MEDICAL SERVICES30TH SEASONCENTRAL MICHIGAN, 197613Kyle Blecha became head athletic trainer of the Bronco Football program in July of 2000.Prior to arriving at WMU, he served over three years as head athletic trainer at Lincoln <strong>University</strong> inJefferson City, Mo. He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.As an undergraduate, Blecha was an athletic training student with the Fresno State Bulldogs, completinga bachelor’s degree in physical education-athletic training in 1993.A native of Ridgecrest, Calif., Kyle and his wife, Kelley, have two daughters, Ally (20) and Sydney (12).Associate Athletic Director for Medical/Support Services Dennis Corbin is entering his 30th year at<strong>Western</strong> <strong>Michigan</strong>.A 1976 graduate of Central <strong>Michigan</strong>, Corbin earned a degree in athletic training/physical educationbefore completing his master’s degree at the <strong>University</strong> of Arizona in the same field three years later.After spending three years as an assistant athletic trainer at Bowling Green, Corbin arrived at WMU.He currently supervises the athletic training and strength and conditioning staffs while overseeingstudent-athlete conduct, drug testing, and welfare issues.Corbin and his wife, Gayle, have two grown children, Natalie and Nicholas, and reside in Kalamazoo.ROBIN HOOK —“THE VOICE OF THE BRONCOS”ASSISTANT AD OF BROADCAST MEDIA &CORPORATE SALES29TH SEASONMONTY PORTERASSOCIATE AD OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS30TH SEASONIOWA, 1989The Voice of Bronco Athletics since 1984, Robin Hook handles play-by-play duties for <strong>football</strong>, alongwith men’s and women’s basketball and hockey.Hook joined the WMU Athletic Department in April of 1995 and was promoted to assistant athleticdirector for broadcast services in 1998. Hook has expanded WMU’s radio coverage with the creationof the Bronco Radio Network and added numerous corporate sponsors.Prior to arriving at WMU, Hook was an on-air radio personality for 15 years, mostly with WKMI-AMin Kalamazoo.As a part of his administrative duties for WMU Athletics, Hook handles all sponsorship relationshipsas well as working hand-in-hand with the stations that comprise the Bronco Radio Network.A Bellville, Mich., native, Robin and his wife Ruth are the parents of Chelsea and Jared, currently amember of the <strong>Michigan</strong> State baseball team.JEFF STONEASSOCIATE AD OF ACADEMIC &COMPLIANCE SERVICES26TH SEASONALMA, 1982Monty Porter oversees the operating budgets, finances and human resources activities for WMU’sathletic program. In addition, he serves as supervising athletic director for <strong>football</strong>, hockey, gymnastics,golf, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, ticket office operations and equipment operations.Porter spent 15 seasons as color radio analyst for <strong>football</strong> from 1998-2011.Porter came to WMU in November of 1995 after spending four seasons at Lamar, where he servedas Assistant A.D. for Business Affairs.The Coralville, Iowa, native was also an administrative assistant at Iowa, earning bachelor’s andmaster’s degrees with an athletic administration emphasis. While a student at Iowa, Porter workedwith the Hawkeye <strong>football</strong> team.Monty and his wife, Mellissa, have five children: Montgomery (19), Collin (17), Gavin (17), Emily (16)and Adysen (9).MAT KANANDIRECTOR OF MEDIA RELATIONSFOOTBALL SID8TH SEASONOHIO, 1997Jeff Stone assumed the position of Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services and Compliancein April of 1998.He manages and monitors the academic progress of all WMU student-athletes. Stone also supervisesthe compliance area within the department. Additionally, he oversees the Bronco baseball,softball and track programs.A native of Midland, <strong>Michigan</strong>, Stone joined the athletics staff in August of 1987 as WMU’s firstdirector of academic support. He received his bachelor’s degree (English and Education) in 1982from Alma College and a master’s degree (College Student Personnel) from Bowling Green State<strong>University</strong> in 1986.Stone is married (Anne). The couple has two children (Elizabeth and Andrew).Mat Kanan enters his eighth season with <strong>Western</strong> <strong>Michigan</strong> and his sixth year as the director ofmedia relations in <strong>2012</strong>-13. He serves as the media contact for <strong>Western</strong> <strong>Michigan</strong> <strong>football</strong>, softballand golf.Kanan joined the athletic media relations staff in September of 2005 after spending two years withthe athletic communications staff at the <strong>University</strong> of Pennsylvania where he served as the contactfor <strong>football</strong>, baseball and women’s basketball. He has been an active member of the College SportsInformation Directors of America since 2003.After graduating from Ohio <strong>University</strong> from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism in 1997, Kanan,a native of Fremont, Ohio, worked for five years in corporate marketing before entering the sportsinformation field as an intern at Capital <strong>University</strong>, a Division III institution in Columbus, Ohio.Kanan earned his masters in sports management at <strong>Western</strong> <strong>Michigan</strong>. He and his wife, Donna, a1999 graduate of Ohio <strong>University</strong>, have a daughter, Paige (2). They reside in Kalamazoo.
