Definitions:(1) “Hate-Crimes” refers to any crime that manifests evidence that the victim was intentionally selected because of the victim’s actual or perceived race;religion; gender; sexual orientation; ethnicity or physical/mental disabilities.(2) “Murder and non-negligent manslaughter” mean the willful (non-negligent) killing of one human being by another.(3) “Campus” means: any building or property owned or controlled by the School within the same reasonably contiguous geographic area of the Schooland used by the School in direct support of, or in a manner related to, the School’s educational purposes; and any building or property that is withinthe same reasonably contiguous geographic area of the School that is owned by the School but controlled by another person, is frequently used bystudents and supports School purposes.(4) The School does not operate or sponsor any on- or off- campus student housing, whether dormitories, residence halls, fraternities, sororities orotherwise.(5) “Non-campus building or property” means: any building or property owned or controlled by a student organization that is officially recognized bythe School; and any building or property owned or controlled by the School that is used in direct support of, or in relation to, the School’seducational purposes, is frequently used by students and is not within the same reasonably contiguous geographic area of the School.(6) “Public property” means all public property (including thoroughfares, streets, sidewalks and parking facilities) that is within thesame reasonably contiguous geographic area of the School, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from a facility owned orcontrolled by the School if the facility is used by the School in direct support of, or in a manner related to, the School’seducational purposes.(7) “Negligent manslaughter” means the killing of another person through gross negligence.(8) Forcible sex offences include any sexual act directed against another person forcibly and/or against that person’s will; or not forcibly or against theperson’s will where the victim is incapable of giving consent.(9) Non-forcible sex offenses include any unlawful, non-forcible sexual intercourse.(10) “Robbery” means the taking or attempting to take anything of value from the care, custody or control of a person or persons by force or threat offorce or violence and/or by putting the victim in fear.(11) “Intimidation” means intentional behavior “which would cause a person of ordinary sensibilities” fear of injury or harm.(12) “Simple Assault” means assaults and attempted assaults where no weapon was used and which did not result in a serious or aggravated injury to thevictim.(13) “Aggravated assault” means an unlawful attack by one person upon another for the purpose of inflicting severe or aggravated bodily injury. Thistype of assault usually is accompanied by the use of a weapon or by means likely to produce death or great bodily harm. It is not necessary thatinjury result from an aggravated assault when a gun, knife or other weapon is used which could and probably would result in serious personal injuryif the crime were successfully completed.(14) “Burglary” means the unlawful entry of a structure to commit a felony or theft. For reporting purposes this definition includes:unlawful entry withintent to commit a larceny or felony; breaking and entering with intent to commit a larceny; housebreaking; safecracking; and all attempts to commitany of the aforementioned.(15) “Larceny-theft” means the unlawful taking, carrying, leading, or riding away of property from the possession, or constructive possession, or anotherperson.(16) “Motor vehicle theft” means the theft or attempted theft of a motor vehicle. All cases where automobiles are taken by persons not having lawfulaccess are classified as motor vehicle theft, even though the vehicles are later abandoned (including joyriding).(17) “Arson” means any willful or malicious burning or attempt to burn, with or without intent to defraud, a dwelling house, public building, motorvehicle or aircraft, personal property of another, etc.(18) “Destruction, damage or vandalism of property” is when individuals willfully damage or deface the property of others or the commons.(19) Liquor law violations include the violation of laws or ordinances prohibiting: the manufacture, sale, transporting, furnishing orpossession of intoxicating liquor; maintaining unlawful drinking places; bootlegging; operating a still; furnishing liquor to a minor or intemperateperson; using a vehicle for illegal transportation of liquor; drinking on a train or public conveyance; and all attempts to commit any of theaforementioned. Drunkenness and driving under the influence are not included in this definition.(20) Drug law violations include the violation of federal, state or local laws relating to the unlawful possession, sale, use, growing,manufacture or making of narcotic drugs. The relevant substances include: opium or cocaine and their derivatives (morphine, heroin, codeine);marijuana, synthetic narcotics (demerol, methadones); and dangerous non-narcotic drugs (barbiturates, benzedrine).


(21) Illegal weapons possession includes the violation of laws or ordinances dealing with weapon offenses, regulatory in nature, suchas: the manufacture, sale or possession of deadly weapons; carrying deadly weapons, concealed or openly; furnishing deadly weapons to minors;aliens possessing deadly weapons; and all attempts to commit any of the aforementioned.
