Why use kitchen component systems?
Price: Cutting and edging standard panel sizes in large quantities
allows for a labour saving of about 60%. This saving is reflected in the
final cost.
Availability: All units in standard sizes are available off the shelf.
Processing down time is eliminated.
Efficiency: The cutting of panels from full sheets is precisely
optimised. Wastage of material is minimal. The pre-cut, edged and
drilled panels save a substantial amount of on-site time. This can
mean a reduction in staff costs or the option of taking on more work –
or both.
Business made simple: No need to tie up large amounts of cash
and storage in stock. The need for expensive machinery is
eliminated. Quoting a kitchen component system is fast, simple and
highly accurate. No guesswork or cutting lists required. Spend less
time on tasks that earn you no money, and more time on the ones
that do.
Flexibility: The range of standard modules is large. This allows for
flexible design options. In the event that a non-standard module is
required, custom work can be carried out within a relatively fast time
frame. With complete flexibility in mind, the panels were designed to
be universal – they are compatible with a large range of hardware.
Quality: All modules are made from highly moisture resistant white
melamine. All horizontal panels are edged in a durable 2mm PVC
rigid edge. All shaped panels are edged in 3mm T-Mould edging.
Included is all drilling and pre drilling required, system 32 inclusive. All
carcasses are manufactured with solid backs and modules can be
mounted with either the plinth system (option al extra) or with plastic
legs (standard).
Guarantee: All materials, labour and hardware provided are covered
by a replacement guarantee. All staff involved in the production of
kitchen component systems have been trained to provide the best
product possible. Should any product fall below standards or
expectations, it will be promptly replaced free of charge. We look
forward to providing you with a top quality product.
Kitchen components help sheet
Thank you for selecting a kit kitchen system. We have listed a few
simple tips to ensure you avoid some common pitfalls when designing
and installing your kitchen.
Accurately measure the room, including positions of doors, windows,
plumbing and power (use millimetres).
Determine how out-of-square the floor plan and walls are.
Transfer these measurements to the graph sheet provided in this
brochure. One square equals 100mm. Refer to the sample layout for
an example.
Depending on the squareness factor, allow a small amount of
clearance behind carcass modules when determining overall carcass
dimensions (see note on benchtop calculations(below) regarding
carcass back clearance).
Note: all base corner cupboards are manufactured with 16mm back
clearance to compensate for out of square kitchens.
Determine the position of non-variable modules as the position of
some modules cannot easily be changed. Also consider the position
of plumbing and waste pipes, windows, etc.
Aim for around a meter and a half between kitchen workstations (the
triangle of stove, sink and fridge).
Try to place corner units into all corners to avoid blind ‘dark hole’
corners. Some blind corners may be accessible from behind an island
bar.
Corner units: Where standard 900 corner units do not fit, “odd leg”
units can be very handy. These are also reversible ie: LH or RH legs.
Try to avoid placing drawer units and dishwashers directly into corner
locations.
2

Make allowance for fridge doors to open around 120 degrees for easy
removal of crispers, noting if door opens left or right. When placing
fridges adjacent to other cupboards, ensure fridge doesn’t interfere
with other cupboard doors; a back clearance may be required to allow
this.
Locate modules in logical, sensible positions eg. pot drawers near
oven or stove, cutlery drawer near sink or servery, etc.
Cooktops should be placed clear of end panels and usually require
provision of rangehood unit above. Be sure to note the minimum
clearance required by legislation above your particular cooktop
(usually 600 mm electric, 650 mm gas), and whether rangehood
ventilation is to be through the top, the rear or recirculated. We
recommend a clearance of 700mm between cooktops and overhead
cupboard doors.
Make sure the sink module is wide enough to accommodate both
bowls, ensure that waste pipes are accessible and consider whether
taps are wall or sink mounted.
 Wall ovens and microwave ovens should not be placed too high;
around 1300 mm is considered safe.
When designing small kitchens, where space is limited, consider
using space saving appliances such as pull out pantries, pull out
corner shelves, lazy susans etc.
Where the kitchen layout changes from base units, with cupboards
over, to tall cupboards, a seen end (coloured) panel will be necessary
to start the run of tall cupboards.
Remember to allow for the thickness of these “seen” panels when
calculating overall dimensions.
Avoid deep shelves above eye level. These tend to accumulate nonaccessible
items.
Full width shelves in base and corner cupboards make the rear of the
bottom shelf difficult to see.
Make sure you have not forgotten the overhead cupboards.
3

Consider ventilation of fridge, wall oven units and rangehood
cupboards. When placing overhead units above them, reduce the
depth of these units to allow for airflow. Before purchasing
appliances, ensure they will fit into your system. Technical brochures
are available upon request.
Do not place carcass modules next to a wall without a small infill
panel.
Post-formed bench tops may need to be 10 mm deeper if back
clearance is required.
Large radius post-formed bench tops may need to be 10 mm deeper
to conceal the tops of under-bench cupboard doors.
Try to keep door sizes below 500 mm wide. Use extra door with
mullion fitted or 2 doors.
Door sizes listed are finished sizes, consult our advisers for
allowance for door edging if required, prior to cutting door panels.
Wardrobes
Our wardrobe range consists of a suite of units 458 wide x 445 deep.
The range comprises a number of draw/basket units either 800 or 1000
high and hanging units 1750 high, with draws and/or baskets
underneath. The low units are constructed with tops and the high units
without, though tops are available.
A typical arrangement is as follows. For details, see the relevant section
of the catalogue.
As with all our kits, the standard configuration can be modified to suit
your requirements.
6

Vanities and File Draws
Vanities
Our vanities are 460 deep x 610 high and come in a range of sizes from
300 wide to 500 wide. Vanity units are available either in three draw or
single door configuration. Like our kitchen cabinets, prices do not
include draw fronts, doors or end (seen) panels.
Our range of vanities is designed to be floor mounted. They can be
modified to be wall mounted in “floating” format.
A variety of tops is available for the vanities.
A typical vanity layout is as follows:
38
610
As with all our kits, the standard vanity units can be modified to suit your
particular requirements.
File Draws
450
Our file draws are 560 deep x 612 high x 468 wide. They are available
with either two file draws or one file draw and two standard draws per
unit. The units are designed to be built into a run of cabinets. If the
units are to stand alone, top and end panels are required. Prices do not
include draw fronts. File draws can be supplied with or without castors.
Again, file draws can be modified to suit your particular requirements.
* Both the 1000 x 800 & the 1200 x 900 can be reversed to make right or left hand units.
They can also be modified in length to suit specific requirements.
* Base corner units have a 16mm void at the back to allow for out of square walls
* In order to have good access to the corner cupboard, the sum of the two back measurements
needs to be greater than 1800mm, ie: 800 + 1000, 900 + 900
* 900 x 1200 corner units should be fitted with 3 doors (1 pair of bi-fold doors
plus 1 single door). The weight of a large bi fold door may sag the hinges.
* For door sizes use formula:
Carcass width less carcass depth less 4mm corner gap less door thickness
ie, for BCNR1200, 900 x 1200 with 16mm thick doors:
900 leg door = 900 - 560 - 4 - 16 = 320 wide
1200 leg door = (1200 - 560 - 4 - 16 - 3mm gap between pair)/2 = 308 wide
* When ordering profiled edge doors for corner cabinets, the two adjoining door sides need to be
orded as square 90 degree edges or very small pencil round edges.
* When assembling corner units the adjustable shelf must be placed inside the unit prior to the last
back panel being fitted.
* 900 x 600 corner units should be fitted with 3 doors (1 pair of bi-fold doors
plus 1 single door). The weight of a large bi fold door may sag the hinges.
* For door sizes use formula:
Carcass width less carcass depth less 4mm corner gap less door thickness
ie, for OHCNR900, 900 x 600 with 16mm thick doors:
600 leg door = 600 - 300 - 4 - 16 = 280 wide
900 leg door = (900 - 300 - 4 - 16 - 3mm gap between pair)/2 = 288 wide
* When ordering profiled edged doors for corner cabinets, the two adjoining door corners
need to be ordered as square 90 degree edges or small pencil round edges.
* An optional overhead end is available with extra adjustable shelf holes
