DesignThe disconnectors consist of the followingmain components:• Arcing horns• Contact set with protective covers• Composite insulators• Baseplate with turning leverDue to the use of fittings and bracketsmade of stainless steel a high corrosionresistance is achieved. Therefore the disconnectorsare particularly suitable forthe use in maritime climates. System integrationThe disconnectors are installed at thetop of contact line poles. A disconnectorbracket is available optionally.Disconnectors are operated via an operatinglinkage either remote controlled witha motor-operated mechanism or with amanually-operated mechanism (not forswitching operations under operatingcurrent).For opening and closing the<strong>Sicat</strong> <strong>8WL6134</strong> disconnectors, electromechanicaloperated mechanisms withlinear stroke and manual operated mechanismswith a stroke of 200 mm are suitable.The following types are available:• Electromechanical operated mechnismin GRP casing, linear stroke• Electromechanical operated mechanismin stainless steel casing, linearstroke• Manual operated mechanismTo minimize electrical wear, the upperoperating linkage can be replaced by avariant with integrated rapid opener. Dueto the rapid opener, opening of the contactset of the disconnector is acceleratedand the extinction of a potentially occurringarc is supported.Disconnector position indication optionOptionally, the <strong>Sicat</strong> <strong>8WL6134</strong> disconnectorscan be equipped with the <strong>Sicat</strong> DMSdisconnetor position indication. Tests and standardsThe <strong>Sicat</strong> <strong>8WL6134</strong> disconnectors aredesigned in line with usage category I forswitchgears in accordance withEN 50123-4: 2003.Type tests carried out:• Dielectric tests• Temperature rise test• Short-time current test• Resistance measurement of the maincircuit before and after the temperaturerise test and before and after the shorttimecurrent test• Mechanical endurance test• Ice conditions testTo assure a constantly high quality, samplingtests and the following type testsare passed in series manufacturing:• Dimensional and tolerance tests• Test of the mechanical connections• Resistance measurement of the maincircuit• Mechanical function test• Measurement of required clearancesin air to ensure the power-frequencywithstand voltage acc. to EN 62271-1achieved in type testaccording to the following standards:• EN 50123-1: 2003• EN 50123-4: 2003Ice conditions test6
