The integratedGPS receiver helps to locate resources,enhancing operational efficiency <strong>and</strong>user safety.The new <strong>TGR990</strong> can operate in threemodes: as a normal <strong>TETRA</strong> <strong>radio</strong>, asa <strong>gateway</strong> between Trunked ModeOperation (TMO) <strong>and</strong> Direct ModeOperation (DMO) or as a DMOrepeater. User can easily change themode by a one-touch shortcut key. Thecurrent mode is clearly visible on the<strong>radio</strong> display.Communications in hard-to-reachplacesDMO Gateway is used to connectusers operating in trunked modewithin <strong>TETRA</strong> coverage <strong>and</strong> thoseoperating in direct mode. Gatewayextends the effective operational rangeof communication from the <strong>TETRA</strong>network (TMO) to direct mode (DMO)<strong>and</strong> vice versa. This functionality canenhance communication in buildings<strong>and</strong> at the edges of the <strong>TETRA</strong>network. For example, with helpof a DMO Gateway, smoke diversoperating in DMO inside a buildingcan communicate with their colleaguesusing TMO outside.When used as DMO Repeater,the <strong>TGR990</strong> can increase thecommunication range <strong>and</strong> sustaincontact by acting as a relay betweenusers operating in direct mode outsidethe <strong>radio</strong> coverage area or insidebuildings, tunnels <strong>and</strong> basements, forexample.
