There are incandescent lights over the aisles and rear crossover. Thehouse lights can be controlled by the lighting desk or a manual system on a highest-takesprecedencebasis.Overhead Lighting BattensAll scenery battens are capable of being used for lighting bars. 2m sections of pre-wired barsmay be clamped to the head batten. Multicore cables run off to the OP side gallery to connectwith dimmers via the stage area patch panel. This includes 1.2kW& 2kW Fresnels, 1kW PC’S, Par 64’s, Cyc lighting and, 650w & 1.2kW Profiles. Suppliersinclude Strand Lighting & Selecon. As this list is regularly modified and updated please contactthe Lighting Department for the latest version.FollowspotsFollowspots can be installed in the Interpreters’ Booths (at the rear of the stalls) or in the nicheseach side of the auditorium.ColourColour scrollers are available if required. A full range of LEE FILTERS and ROSCO SUPER GEL isavailable.Music Stand Lights24V sconce lights are available to fit music stands. A dedicated dimmer is duplicated FOH andbackstage for use with music stands. This dimmer can be controlled by the lighting desk or by amanual fader on a highest-takes-precedence basis.Rehearsal and Work LightsThe lamps connected to the 3 rehearsal and work light dimmers can also be controlled frompush buttons located in the control room and backstage. This facility is used when the controlroom is unattended.EffectsSmoke and fog machinesA number smoke/ haze machines are available subject to requirements in other theatres. Anysmoke / haze, dry ice machines that are brought into the house must be approved prior to use.A "material safety data sheet" will be required for any machine that has not been previouslyapproved for use within the Opera House. Emergency Planning & Response Group staff mustbe consulted whenever any smoke, fog or haze effects are used as special precautions must betaken with the automatic fire alarm system.StrobesNote that any use of strobes may require warning notices to be displayed in the foyer.- 13 - DATE OF LAST REVISION: June .2009
