Welcome!
We hope your summer has been full of fun and activity and that, even if your kids are not
quite ready to return to school, they are enthusiastic about another year of mini minyan, our
Little Minyan’s Youth Education Program!
Structure
Talmidim/Students - This year, based on feedback from families who have been enrolled in
the program, we are returning to a twice per month classroom schedule for Mini Minyan
students ages 8 through 13, with families seeking private options for Hebrew tutoring for
their students. These students will meet with our wonderful educator, Rabbi Wendy Ungar,
on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month, from 9:30 am to noon, in our classroom space on
the lower level of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Upper Arlington.
Teva Travelers - Our programming for families with younger children ages 3 through 7, will
include a monthly Teva Travelers program led by our Spiritual Life Coordinator, Jessica
Shimberg. Teva is the Hebrew word for nature and these sessions will focus on our Jewish
values surrounding care for the earth and its inhabitants as well as the natural cycles of the
Jewish calendar. We will meet at various parks, homes, and at Covenant Presbyterian
throughout the year. Each class will have a craft, story, physical activity, snack and singing
for parents and children and will generally occur on the 1st Sunday of each month.
Mini Minyan Tots Playgroup - The Little Minyan playgroup will continue to meet for some
social and play time for parents and wee ones, ages 7 and under. On the 3rd Sunday of each
month, we have a an outdoor fenced playground and a special indoor space set up with toys
(and coffee) that is open to all Minyan members or those interested in The Little Minyan. It
is a great way to let the young play, especially in the colder months, and to catch up with
friends. This also meets in the lower level of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, beginning
at 9:30am. Playgroup runs from 10/21/12 to 5/19/12.

Dates
Please place the dates on the attached list on your calendar so that you can be certain to
attend all (or most) programming. We have also included the dates in electronic format for
your convenience. Kids and families have so many weekend activities and we hope you will
make Jewish education a high priority for your family.
Holiday and Shabbat Services
Our learning extends beyond the classroom and includes the larger Little Minyan
community as often as we can. As a part of our school year we also have our yearly Pre-Rosh
Hashanah apple picking trip where we gather apples for our families and for the community
for Rosh Hashanah morning. We also encourage families to participate in Shabbat services
(held on the 2nd Friday and 4th Saturday of each month), community High Holiday events,
Sukkot celebration, Tu B’Shvat seder, Passover seder and many other delightful events.
Tikkun Olam
Another effort to move education beyond the classroom is the opportunity to join Little
Minyan members in social service projects. Currently, our kehilla volunteers at the
Community Resource Center in Clintonville. Other opportunities have included serving
dinner at the Ronald McDonald House of Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Student are also
encouraged to take on a mitzvah project during the year before their Bar or Bat Mitzvah and
can invite the community to participate with them.
Tuition and Fees
For Talmidim studying with Rabbi Wendy:
$360.00/student for Little Minyan Members
$600.00/student for non-members
For Teva Travelers:
$50/child for members (10 sessions)
$10/session for non-members (First session is free, but contributions to defray our
costs are gratefully accepted)
