Solutions• Further encourage preparatory and continuous training <strong>of</strong>pr<strong>of</strong>essional drivers.• Improve awareness building for other road users.• Pursue research initiated by the ETAC study.• Encourage installation <strong>of</strong> proven active and passive safetysystems before they become mandatory.• Harmonisation <strong>of</strong> road worthiness testing rules.• Further harmonisation <strong>of</strong> enforcement, including cross-border.• Continuous investment in infrastructure maintenance andnew infrastructure.Page 9 (c) International Road Transport Union (IRU) 2011
