Michael Wunderman
Vice-Chairman of Montres Corum Sarl
President of Corum USA LLC
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California and schooled in England, Michael Wunderman
has been working with his father, Severin Wunderman, owner of the Montres Corum Sarl,
since 1994.
Michael started his career at Severin Montres (then manufacturer of Gucci Timepieces)
with the intent to understand every facet of the business. After gaining invaluable
experience in the distribution and production areas of the watch making industry, he
discovered his strength in sales and marketing. In January of 1996 he was appointed
Marketing Director and helped coordinate the most successful product launch of the year
with the famed ‘G’ watch. In 1997 he moved to London, England to become the Managing
Director of Severin Montres UK.
Through a buyout, Gucci acquired Severin Montres’ license in 1997 thereby ending their
25-year partnership. Over the next three years, father and son worked diligently on a new
collection of timepieces with which they would re-enter the marketplace. In 2000, Severin
Wunderman acquired the majority share of Montres Corum Sarl in La Chaux-de-Fonds,
Switzerland, an important watchmaking center.
The younger Wunderman relocated to Switzerland to become an integral part of the
restructuring management team in 2001. Father and son have worked very closely since
the acquisition with the determination to revitalize the Corum brand. Since then, they have
re-established the brand as a tough competitor and trendsetter in the industry, while
maintaining their independence and family values.
In 2004 Michael assumed the role of President as he continued to strengthen the brand’s
positioning and market share. With his four years as President, Michael was instrumental
in defining the current global strategy with a focus on promotions and design. The synergy
that Michael and the current CEO, Antonio Calce, share has translated into successfully
redesigning the company’s timepiece collections with the new designs of the Admiral’s
Cup and Romvlvs families of watches. Together they also created the brand’s new slogan
and publicity campaign, “Unlock and Conquer”.
