1. The demolition cost includes the removal of the existing slipway to the northern edge of theTraverser. It does not include the dredging2. The quantity of dredging assumes a 3m wide trench with 1 in 5 side slopes in the softmaterial. The cost of disposal to land fill of contaminated material Type B has just beenincreased to a reported $1000/t. Testing is required to confirm this rate3. The piled slipway will comprise prefabricated steel modules 12m long and includes 40kg/mrail, 250UC rail beams and 200UC crossbeams and bracing. At this stage the piles are 327diameter with a 12mm wall. All members are painted for a longer life. The length of piles iscalculated from the underside of beams to the basalt.4. For the new western wall we adopted a galvanised 310UC with 2.4m precast concrete panelsslotted down in between. The wall is tied back with a capping beam and slab back to theexisting hardstand. The slab is suitable for a 40t travelift. It should be noted that there is avoid under the slab and with EPA approval we may be able to place some dredged spoil atthis location. This has not been included in the costs at this stage.5. Waste water capture facility has been estimated for both the hardstand and thecradle/maintenance area south of the traverser. As was the case at SYC, the EPA requiresthat all the waste from maintenance of boats must be captured and processed. Withoutknowing the current drainage system it is difficult to identify what works are required toimprove the drainage of the areas to EPA requirements.6. Any modifications to the cradles that may be required because of the change to the gradientof the slipway have not been addressed in the attached estimate7. The capacity and condition of the existing winch has not been considered at this stage. Anominal cost of $50,000 has been included to bring it up to capacity8. We have also applied a nominal structural steel rate to estimate the cost of a new traverserSummaryIn order to progress the estimate to a more accurate level the following additional information isand preliminary designs for the major structural members are required.Hydrographic and topographic surveyContamination testing of material to be dredgedDiscussions with EPA regarding alternative disposal methods of dredged materialPreliminary designs and drawings for the new slipway, western wall and traverserCondition assessment of existing drainage systems to hardstand area and maintenance yardCondition assessment for existing winchAssessment of any cradle modifications if requiredBased on the information available and the RYCV Scope of Works, the preliminary cost for replacingthe slipway to EPA requirements is $1,959,612 including a 20% contingency which is appropriate atthis level of investigation. A breakdown of the costs is shown on the attached estimate sheet.2 Atkins Maritime Engineers Pty Ltd, PO Box 646 Black Rock VIC 3193 phone 61 3 9585 8185, 61 (0) 401 718 248
