Admissions Policy<strong>Wallace</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> is an open admissions institution.All students who have earned a high school diploma orGED are eligible for admission. In addition to an application foradmission, students are required to supply the <strong>College</strong> with anofficial copy of their high school transcript or official copy oftheir GED scores. Students transferring from another collegemust submit an admissions application and an official copy oftheir transcript(s) from each college they have attended. Transientstudents must submit a transient letter from their home institutionstating the courses they will be allowed to take inaddition to an application for admission.Graduates from a non-accredited high school with a diplomademonstrating successful completion of a course of study onthe secondary level based upon the Carnegie units required bythe state education agency at the time of the award (currently24) and minimum ACT score of 16 or the equivalent SAT scoreof 790 are eligible for admission. Financial Aid Announcements - Fall 2011Students receiving financial aid should read the followinginformation carefully.APPLY EARLY • Students applying for financial aid shouldapply at least three (3) months before the next semester begins.Applying early will help ensure a timely response to federalguidelines and will allow for any unforeseenproblems/situations that might occur. Applying early will alsohelp students to avoid potential long lines or waits.BOOKSTORE CHARGES • If Pell Awards exceed the amountof tuition and fees owed, students may charge books and supplieson their Pell accounts at the WSCC Bookstore. Theseaccounts will be open for charges on August 1.B<strong>AL</strong>ANCE CHECKS • Per federal guidelines, attendancemust be verified before balance checks can be distributed.Students must attend <strong>AL</strong>L CLASSES before Pell and loanfunds will be distributed. Students’ balance checks willnot be processed until all holds are cleared.DISTANCE EDUCATION • Students are responsible for loggingin and meeting orientation requirements for all Blackboard,Internet and video classes.
