"Family Wiener Roast at Topsail Beach"<br />

Where: Topsail Beach<br />

When: 7:30-9:30pm<br />

The Friends <strong>of</strong> Topsail Beach invite families to an old-fashioned wiener and<br />

marshmallow roast. "Fireside entertainers" such as Terry Rielly, will also be on<br />

hand to spin a good yarn or play a short tune. Bring an instrument or a tall tale and<br />

join in! Food and refreshments are provided by the <strong>Town</strong>. For more information,<br />

Atlantic Under 13 Soccer Championships<br />

Where: Topsail Soccer Complex<br />

When: July 5 th – 8 th<br />

Thursday, July 5<br />

The top Under 13 soccer players in both the Girls and Boys divisions from Atlantic<br />

Canada compete for the Atlantic Championship!!! Teams from Newfoundland and<br />

Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island will be competing<br />

for Gold. Round Robin play will start on Thursday, leading up to the Gold and Bronze<br />

medal games on Sunday. Come out to support your Newfoundland and Labrador<br />

<strong>Kelligrews</strong> <strong>Soiree</strong> Dinner Show - “Nunsense”<br />

Where: Royal Canadian Legion in <strong>Kelligrews</strong><br />

When: Doors open 6:30 pm. Meal starts 7:00 pm<br />

Admission: $40.00 (single)<br />

Tickets will be available 9:00am June 11 th by phoning 834-6534. We accept credit card and/or cash.<br />

NO DEBIT OR PERSONAL CHEQUES. Assigned seating upon purchase <strong>of</strong> tickets. Please note:<br />

Tickets are non-refundable.<br />

Nunsense is one <strong>of</strong> the most successful Off-Broadway shows in the history <strong>of</strong> musical theatre and is<br />

one that Spirit <strong>of</strong> Newfoundland also toured in Ireland. Featuring a remarkable cast <strong>of</strong> zany nuns, this<br />

hysterical musical comedy is an adventure from start to finish. When botulism killed most <strong>of</strong> the order,<br />

there wasn’t enough money to bury them as Reverend Mother Superior (Sheila Williams), spent the<br />

money on a VCR and camcorder. So the sisters have to pull <strong>of</strong>f a burial fundraiser for the dead nuns<br />

who are stored in the freezer. This riotous revue packed with hilarious, show-stopping song and<br />

dance numbers also features Shelley Neville, Dana Parsons, Robyn Sears and Cheri Carroll.<br />

Manuels River Linear Park Self-Guided Walk (ongoing activity)<br />

Starting on July 6. Come take a walk in Manuels River Linear Park. See samples <strong>of</strong> 500 million-yearold<br />

fossils. View evidence <strong>of</strong> ancient volcanoes and the work <strong>of</strong> mighty glaciers on the 6 km <strong>of</strong><br />

walking trails. Please drop by the chalet to pick up information concerning a self-guided tour. For<br />

more information please contact 834-2099.<br />

Big Rig Rodeo<br />

Where; Recreation Complex Parking Lot<br />

When: 9:30 – 11:00 am<br />

Drop by with the kids to see various Emergency Rescue, Public Works, St. John Ambulance and<br />

other big rigs.


Topsail Beach Rotary Park Family Picnic<br />

Where: Rotary Park/Topsail Beach<br />

When: 12:00 - 2:00 pm<br />

Come out and enjoy musical entertainment by The Music Box, Magic<br />

Show with Mark Bailey, Sky High Amusements and fun activities.<br />

Don’t forget to bring your own snacks in your Picnic Basket!<br />

Loonie Swim - Ages 11-15<br />

Where: CBS Recreation Complex<br />

Youth ages 11-15 can come swim for an hour for only a loonie!<br />

Family Campfire and Sing-a-Long<br />

Where: Robert French Memorial Stadium<br />

The Manuels River Heritage Society will be hosting a Family Campfire and<br />

Sing-a-Long. A great family event! Marshmallows will be supplied. This<br />

event will run on Thursday nights throughout the summer as well<br />

Saturday, July 7<br />

Come join the staff <strong>of</strong> Home Hardware, the <strong>Kelligrews</strong> <strong>Soiree</strong> Committee and the Mayor & Council <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Conception</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> <strong>South</strong> as they invite residents and visitors alike to a hardy breakfast at<br />

the Stadium in <strong>Kelligrews</strong>. There will be musical entertainment provided by Melvin Batten for<br />

everyone to enjoy.<br />

Tim Hortons <strong>Kelligrews</strong> <strong>Soiree</strong> 8KM Road Race<br />

Where: Robert French Memorial Stadium<br />

When: 8:00 am<br />

Register at the CBS Recreation Complex starting Wednesday, June 20. Limited to 300 runners.<br />

Registration fee is $10.00. Route and Registration forms will be available on the <strong>Town</strong>’s website by<br />

June 18 th . Anyone interested in volunteering during the race, please email<br />

Family Playgroup at the <strong>Conception</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> Family Resource Program<br />

Where: 974 CBS Highway in <strong>Kelligrews</strong> (Next to Bill’s Muffler Shop)<br />

The <strong>Conception</strong> <strong>Bay</strong> Family Resource Program invites all families with children<br />

Kids Box Car Race<br />

Where: Frank Roberts/ Queen Elizabeth Soccer Field<br />

When: 1:00 - 2:00 pm<br />

Take any Cardboard box, cut holes in the top and sides (child’s head and arms; car must be worn-no<br />

wheels) Decorate your box and get ready for the races. Prizes will be awarded for fastest racer; best<br />

painted car; best decorated and most creative!<br />

Clara Nolan’s Afternoon Ball<br />

Where: Worsley Park<br />

When: 2:00 - 4:00pm<br />

Come out and enjoy the musical entertainment by Ray O`Leary. There will be<br />

refreshments. The event is free <strong>of</strong> charge but participants are asked to bring<br />

along a non-perishable food item for the CBS/Paradise Food Bank.<br />

22 nd Annual Manuels River Watch your Bobber Race<br />

Where: Manuels River Bridge<br />

The Manuels River Heritage Society will be hosting their Annual Bobber Race.<br />

Admission is free with entertainment, sky high amusements, refreshments and<br />

activities for children. Only $5.00 to purchase a bobber. 1 st Prize: $1000.00<br />

Cash, 2 nd Prize: $300.00 Cash, 3 rd Prize: $200.00 Cash and Seven (7) $100.00 Cash Prizes. For<br />

Walk will start 4:30 pm – Meet local historian Howard Brown at the Old St. John Evangelist Church<br />

behind Topsail Elementary.<br />
