Garary LowderGary Lowder started singing as a teen at <strong>the</strong> FirstBaptist Church in China Grove, North Carolina.Following his performances with <strong>the</strong> choir <strong>and</strong> as a soloist,<strong>the</strong> Twilights, a group of Rowan County buddies, askedhim to join <strong>the</strong>ir b<strong>and</strong>. Following a reorganization <strong>the</strong>yrenamed <strong>the</strong>mselves Hot Smokin’ Brass, road trippin’<strong>the</strong> Sou<strong>the</strong>ast for two years <strong>and</strong> performing as JackieWilson’s backup b<strong>and</strong>.Upon Wilson’s death, <strong>the</strong> b<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Gary separatedto follow <strong>the</strong>ir dreams.Lowder l<strong>and</strong>ed in Minnesota following an auditionwith <strong>the</strong> Trademark show b<strong>and</strong> touring <strong>the</strong> U.S. <strong>and</strong>Canada. Eventually <strong>the</strong>y headquartered in Minneapoliswhere <strong>the</strong>y performed often.After 18 years shivering in <strong>the</strong> cold Minnesotawinters, Lowder returned to <strong>the</strong> Carolinas in 2005.Soonafter, he was singing with <strong>the</strong> Legends of <strong>the</strong><strong>Beach</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Carolina Breakers.Although <strong>Beach</strong> <strong>Music</strong> suits him well, Gary is a wellknowngospel recording artist <strong>and</strong> performer.Hear Gary on Shanty’s Records CD, Buy American!!!Clay McClinton (Delbert’s son) appears for <strong>the</strong>first time as part of a <strong>Beach</strong> <strong>Music</strong> compilation.
