National Shag Championship - Non-Pro DivisionOne of the way cool standards setin the National Shag Dance Championshipsin recent years are the compulsorysteps in the national.Requirement steps include:For 1st Round – Friday night(Preliminaries) and Thursday night(Finals), Masters are exempt.The following shag steps must bedone by male and female at the sametime:places you third and you omit thebelly-roll and a pivot, you would beplaced fifth on the judge’s ballot.The standards used in Judging areas follows:Categories: (except Masters):Smoothness – Degree of Difficulty– Togetherness – Execution –RepertoireCathy Metcalf & Vaughan Royal(non-pro)Basic – Facing each other.Masters Categories:Pivot – fullDuck Walk – on one foot, theother – male and female simultaneously.Smoothness – Togetherness –Style – ShowmanshipThe different divisions are as follows:Boogie Walk – kick and boogie,boogie – male and female simultaneously.Belly Roll – at least one completebelly roll; with male lead (his left ona 1-2PROFESSIONAL DIVISION:Any person who has danced in aProfessional Shag contest, specificallyin the Competitive Shaggers Association.Masters and Seniors can enterthis division. Must be 21!Brittany Austin & Nathan Keip(non-pro)count, then 3-4 count on his right,then 5-6).NON-PROFESSIONAL DIVI-SION:Judging auditors (2) will check offrequirement steps.For each step not performed – eachjudge’s placement will drop thecouple one position for the firstnight’s score.
