<strong>Leveled</strong> <strong>Literacy</strong> <strong>Intervention</strong>Structure• Systematic instruction that supportsgrowth on DRA2 Word AnalysisAssessment:⇒ Phonological Awareness⇒ Metalanguage⇒ Letter/Word Recognition⇒ Phonics⇒ Structural Analysis &Syllabication• Five components of reading areaddressed:⇒ Phonics⇒ Phonological Awareness⇒ Vocabulary⇒ Fluency⇒ Comprehension• Focus of reading instruction is todevelop deep comprehension of text• Focus of writing instruction is thebuilding of early writing strategies• Significant attention is paid tofluent, phrased reading andfluency in writingStudents who will benefit from <strong>Leveled</strong><strong>Literacy</strong> <strong>Intervention</strong> instruction:• Students in grades K‐2 reading belowgrade level• New learners of English• Students with special needsTeachers who will benefit from <strong>Leveled</strong><strong>Literacy</strong> <strong>Intervention</strong> training:• Special Education Teachers• ESL Teachers• <strong>Literacy</strong> <strong>Intervention</strong>ists• Classroom TeachersRequired Components of <strong>Leveled</strong><strong>Literacy</strong> <strong>Intervention</strong> Training:• Initial two day training• Two meetings a month after school• Use of on‐line data managementsystem• Job embedded coaching• One 30 minute <strong>LLI</strong> group, 5 timeseach week with up to 3 students• Daily 15‐20 minute <strong>LLI</strong> planning time• Commitment to second year of oncemonthly meetings• Attend Continuing <strong>LLI</strong> Trainings infuture years as an <strong>LLI</strong> TeacherUpon successful completion:• <strong>LLI</strong> certificate will be awarded• 3.0 salary credit & CDE clock hourcredit<strong>LLI</strong> applications are available each Spring
