As the nurse for theveterans, Bertrand heard their stories, whichled her to write the book.’61 Mary Hebert McCowan retired thissummer after 19 years with the Advocate newspaperof Baton Rouge. She was co-authorof the Coffee Column, which appeared eachweek in the Sunday Advocate.’64 Kay Pecoraro Summershas been electedcommander of the Beaufort(South Carolina) Sail& Power Squadron. Sheis the first female commanderof the squadron,chartered in 1960. She was recognizedfor her work with Options Inc.,which provides services to individuals withdevelopmental disabilities. Also honoredwas Sister Judith Brun, CSJ, for her workwith Capital Area Alliance for the Homeless.Sr. Judith served as principal at St.Joseph’s Academy for 25 years.’77 Anita Parsons King qualified for theMillion Dollar Round Table and traveled toCanada to be honored for being in the top1 percent of insurance agents and financialadvisors.Elizabeth Wall Magner was a 2007 NewOrleans City Business Woman of the Yearhonoree. A U.S. bankruptcy judge for the EasternDistrict of Louisiana, she was recognizedfor her work following Hurricane Katrina,including as a volunteer with the JeffersonParish Public School System in two academicprograms for poorly performing students.’81 Lisa WestmorelandCollier has been selectedto serve on the boardof directors as the chieffinancial officer of theJunior League of BatonRouge for 2008-2009.Collier’84 Mary Corripio celebratedthe renewal of herreligious vows on August 31in Baton Rouge. She enteredwith the Sisters of NotreDame de Namur in 1999while living in Japan. Shenow lives in Boston.’86 Kristin Heflin Mc- CorripioCoy, a lieutenant colonel in the UnitedStates Air Force, has beenselected as the chief ofprotocol for U.S. EuropeanCommand in Stuttgart,Germany. She andher family moved overseasin July to begin her thirdassignment to Germany. McCoy’87 Robin Mayhall, awriter in the CorporateCommunications Departmentat Blue Cross andBlue Shield of Louisiana,wrote the text of the 2006annual report that recentlyMayhallearned a silver ADDYaward from the Advertising Federation ofGreater Baton Rouge. The report received aplatinum award in the annual Hermes Awardcompetition sponsored by the Association ofMarketing and Communications Professionals.The annual report also was one of only12 submitted worldwide to be showcased inHOW Magazine’s 2008 international designannual.’90 Hollea Day wa snamed Teacher of theYe a r f o r We s t B a t o nRouge Parish.
