The HC series is administered by <strong>the</strong> Journal Office. Pleasecontact <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice to discuss whe<strong>the</strong>r your document should bean HC paper, <strong>and</strong> to obtain an HC paper number (sometimescalled a printing number). When you obtain an HC number youwill need to tell us <strong>the</strong> date you plan to lay <strong>the</strong> document. If thischanges you should in<strong>for</strong>m <strong>the</strong> Journal Office. 8 Printing numberscan be obtained up to four weeks in advance.18. The printing number will remain valid unless <strong>the</strong> paper is laidin a different parliamentary session from <strong>the</strong> one originallyplanned. The printing number series begins again in eachSession <strong>of</strong> Parliament (ra<strong>the</strong>r than at <strong>the</strong> start <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> calendaryear). Please let <strong>the</strong> Journal Office know if a printing number isno longer required.19. A new printing number is required <strong>for</strong> each year’s report <strong>and</strong>accounts. If a report <strong>and</strong> a set <strong>of</strong> accounts/financial statementsare to be laid as separate documents but with <strong>the</strong> same HCnumber, each volume should be numbered as HC 123–I, HC123–II etc (volumes are distinguished by uppercase romannumerals). This also applies to any document printed involumes. Each volume must have a title page.20. HC paper numbers may be obtained by contacting <strong>the</strong>Outer Office staff on (020) 7219 3361/3252 or by email tojournal<strong>of</strong>fice@parliament.uk with <strong>the</strong> words “HC NumberRequest from” followed by <strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> organisation in <strong>the</strong>subject header.8 The date <strong>of</strong> <strong>laying</strong> must appear on <strong>the</strong> title page <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> document, after <strong>the</strong> words “Ordered by <strong>the</strong><strong>House</strong> <strong>of</strong> Commons to be printed ...”.8
