In exceptional circumstances where this is notpossible, pro<strong>of</strong>s can be accepted provided <strong>the</strong> text is correct,complete <strong>and</strong> will not differ in any way from <strong>the</strong> final printedversion. Pictures do not have to be included in pro<strong>of</strong>s, butcaptions to <strong>the</strong>m should be. Pagination/folio references shouldbe <strong>the</strong> same as in <strong>the</strong> final printed version. If <strong>the</strong> price is notknown it may be left <strong>of</strong>f <strong>the</strong> pro<strong>of</strong> but <strong>the</strong> title page must meetall <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>requirements</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> printed copies.e) The paper must be A4 size, <strong>and</strong> must be predominantlyportrait in orientation. This facilitates binding into a series.33. The <strong>laying</strong> <strong>of</strong> your paper will be <strong>for</strong>mally listed in <strong>the</strong> Appendixto <strong>the</strong> Votes <strong>and</strong> Proceedings <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> day on which it was laid.The Votes <strong>and</strong> Proceedings is <strong>the</strong> authoritative, <strong>for</strong>mal record<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>House</strong>’s proceedings. It is published as part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> daily“Vote Bundle”, which also contains <strong>the</strong> Order Paper. The Votes<strong>and</strong> Proceedings is available on <strong>the</strong> Parliamentary website(http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm/cmvote/cmvote.htm). You should check <strong>the</strong> Vote entry <strong>for</strong> your paper in <strong>the</strong>Votes <strong>and</strong> Proceedings <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> day on which you have laid yourpaper. The protection <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Parliamentary Papers Act 1840does not apply to <strong>the</strong>se <strong>papers</strong>.34. Act <strong>papers</strong> that are not HC <strong>papers</strong> may be delivered on nonsittingdays (but not in <strong>the</strong> period between <strong>the</strong> dissolution <strong>of</strong>a Parliament <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> first day <strong>of</strong> meeting <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> next one),although <strong>the</strong>y will be treated as having been laid on <strong>the</strong> nextsitting day <strong>and</strong> should not normally be published until <strong>the</strong>n (ifthis will cause difficulties, please consult <strong>the</strong> Journal Office).16
