This general session will be one of the highlights of your Oracle OpenWorld experience.
Catch a lively panel of Oracle Applications executives early in the week as they talk candidly
about why they’re excited about Oracle Applications—and why you should be too. You’ll hear
about the newest software releases, the scope of the products, trends in the industry, and
future development plans. This session will put you in lockstep with Oracle Applications as
you make plans for investments in your business.
This session provides an overview of Oracle’s platform as a service (PaaS) offering. Oracle
now offers its industry-leading database and application platform as a cloud service.
With this offering, developers will get the best of both worlds: the stability and familiarity
of running on the class-leading database and application platform technology with all
the benefi ts of cloud deployment, such as no upfront costs, a pay-as-you go model, and
capacity on demand. As enterprise adoption of cloud computing accelerates, organizations
need a strategy and a plan for moving to the cloud. This session explores best practices for
organizations moving to cloud computing.
Why do customers’ data centers still demand an “assembly required” approach? This
necessity proves costly and complex, forces customers to deal with a wide range of vendors
for each application, and fails to deliver performance optimization for application and data
workloads. Oracle believes that systems (just like automobiles) should be designed and
engineered “at the factory” with the goal of reducing customers’ costs and complexity and
delivering extreme performance, reliability, availability, and simplicity with a higher degree
of automation. Attend this session to learn how Oracle is delivering on this today and how
customers are seeing these benefi ts with the Oracle family of engineered systems.
Most mission-critical enterprise applications rely on a database system. Oracle now offers
its industry-leading database system as both a product and a cloud service. A database
cloud environment based on Oracle technologies can support mission-critical database
deployments; extreme scalability requirements; and effi cient, fl exible deployment and
consolidation of databases. This session discusses current capabilities and best practices
used to deploy databases in private cloud environments.
In this session, Paco Aubrejuan, Oracle’s PeopleSoft general manager, provides an update
on the PeopleSoft family of products and discusses the investment strategy for it. You
will hear about the next major PeopleSoft release: PeopleSoft Release 9.2. You will also
see live demonstrations of upcoming capabilities that deliver simplicity and drive higher
productivity, including new mobile PeopleSoft solutions. And you will learn about planned
PeopleSoft investments, such as in the PeopleSoft Update Manager feature of PeopleSoft
PeopleTools, that can lower your total cost of ownership. Last, you will understand how
PeopleSoft products—coupled with Oracle technology, hardware, and applications—can
deliver even greater value to PeopleSoft customers.
In this session, Rick Jewell, senior vice president of Oracle Supply Chain Management
Development, describes Oracle’s overall product strategy and roadmap for all supply
chain products. The session anchors the entire SCM track and sets the scene for the rest of
your week at Oracle OpenWorld. In addition, the presentation shares specifi c case studies
from partners and customers of how Oracle SCM solutions have facilitated a value chain
transformation.
