Who Qualifies for <strong>ELL</strong>transportation?<strong>ELL</strong> transportation is provided for all <strong>ELL</strong>students who are zoned for a schoolwithout an <strong>ELL</strong> program or NewcomerCenter.What is a NewcomerCenter?Our middle and high school newcomer sitesare part of the WCSD English LanguageLearners Program.Students new to the United States are provideda comfortable and rigorous environmentwhere they begin to earn academiccredits in core content areas while learningtheir new language and culture.Students receive assistance with adjustingto American culture and language. Focusingon the development of social and academiclanguage skills that prepare studentsfor graduation they will become aware ofeducation expectations and opportunities.How long does it take to getan <strong>ELL</strong> bus?After the student is registered at the assignedschool, please allow 5 to 7 days for transportationto assign the student a bus.Please plan to take your child the first week ofschool.Important InformationCall the <strong>ELL</strong> Department at 333-6090. Ifyour child will be missing school for somereason for more than 2 consecutive schooldays.Do not wait more than 15 minutes for theschool bus.
