The Boardgamer Volume 8, Issue 3 July 2003 3Summer Convention SeasonThe summer convention season isupon us. Once again, I will beattending the entire length of the WorldBoardgaming Championships, andprobably a day or two at Origins also. Ifyou are at either of these, please feelfree to look me up and chat for awhile.OriginsDue to my employment situationremaining in flux, I will probably beattending college classes this summer,so my Origins plans are still up in theair. My hopes are to perhaps get thereWednesday night and Thursdaymorning before heading back to Daytonfor classes. Then I should be able toreturn sometime on the weekend, butthe exact timing is unknown. I want tospend some time in the dealer room, hopefully sell a few magazines, and getout to see how CABS (Columbus AreaBoardgaming Society) and NGA(Northcoast Gamers Alliance) succeedwith the War Room concept. Due tomy uncertain attendance status, Icannot help them out this year otherthan in a cheerleading capacity, but Ihope to be able to contribute in a moremeaningful way in 2004.If you wish to find me at Origins, I amsure I will either be in the War Room orat the GMT Games booth in the dealerarea. From The EditorWorld Boardgaming ChampionshipsThis one I wouldn’t miss no matterwhat the personal employmentsituation. The family is coming alongthis year, as the weekend before weand several other Ohio gamers have awedding to attend in Maryland, whichwe are planning to follow up with a dayat Antietam and a day at Gettysburg. Then it is off to Hunt Valley Marylandfor the annual pilgrimage toboardgaming Mecca. My tentativeschedule should find me at thefollowing events:Tuesday: Circus Maximus, maybeElchfest or Win Place & ShowWednesday: BAP Annual Meeting,March Madness, Auction, Titan TheArena, Formula Motor Racing, GreedThursday: War At Sea, Pro GolfFriday: Wilderness War, Battleline,Formula Motor RacingSaturday: Battle Cry, Slapshot Jr.,SlapshotSunday: WBC After Action Meeting,Enemy In Sight, Wrasslin Battle RoyalSample fileOf course, if I could win some gamesthis year the whole schedule wouldchange, but to be safe I am planningon a year of incredible mediocrity, much like last year.Again, I should be available to chatbetween events here, but I tend to try tokeep this week as vacation like as possible,so I tend to spend my time playing gamesinstead of spending very much timediscussing the magazine.ArticlesSo far, The BOARDGAMER has a goodstock of articles (and yes, for those of youwho have sent articles in, I will get to thempretty soon). However, I am certain someof you have noticed that the same authorstend to appear time and time again.
