It is no coincidencethat those groomed in it, feel theneed to keep up with the pace andpursue quick cash and success.Even though the older generationslegitimately dispute this notion,Tshwenyego Matlalo believes hehas found his fast cash niche inthe poultry market.After attempting different kinds<strong>of</strong> agricultural projects, Matlaloventured into exotic poultrybreeding. The onething that gothim to stick to it, is its quick cashand faster return on investmentthan other agricultural projects.“Exotic poultry breeding makespr<strong>of</strong>it faster than other projectslike small stock. I tried it andknew that is what I would ratherfocus on.”Unlike small stock that breedstwice a year, poultry breeds manytimes either through the use <strong>of</strong>natural or artificial incubation.Even then, Matlalo has differentstrategies that overlap in generatingincome for the company. One <strong>of</strong>his fast cash making businessaspect is buying fertilized eggs,incubating them and selling dayold chicks. He sells the day oldchicks for approximately P50each while he bought eggs forapproximately P15.00. However,Matlalo quickly clarifies that thedifference <strong>of</strong> the two amountsdoes not add to his pr<strong>of</strong>it, becausethere are other operational costslike outsourcing <strong>of</strong> incubationservices.While buying fertilized eggs hasits own advantages, on the flipside, he says it is a risky business.“If eggs are unfertilized they area waste and there is little thatone can do about it.
