• Implementation of the projectThe INSETA <strong>FAIS</strong> <strong>Fit</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Proper</strong> Project will be implemented in twophases:Phase 1: National Assessment on 17 November 2007Phase 2: Curriculum, Learning Material, RPL Tools <strong>and</strong> NationalAssessments until 31 December 2009• National AssessmentThe first National Assessment in 2007 will “follow” a similar format <strong>and</strong>process as that done in 2004.• The questions will be designed in the form of case studies with amultiple choice selection, with a pilot assessment to assist as a“mock exam”• The content of the case studies will assess – in a rigorous <strong>and</strong>responsible way – knowledge, cognitive skills, analytical skills, logicalthought, etc.• The educational integrity will underpin the design of the assessmentsThe various “papers” will cover unit st<strong>and</strong>ards not covered in 2004• Unit St<strong>and</strong>ards – covered in 2004Section 3 – C<strong>and</strong>idates may select to answer full questions from thetwo electives below i.e. the whole of 3 <strong>and</strong>/or 4:• Long Term A (category 1)[minimum 30 credits required of which 12 were covered]Question 3 – Short Term Personal Lines(12 credits)• Long Term B[minimum 30 credits required of which 12 were covered]• Long Term C[minimum 60 credits required of which 30 were covered]• Short Term Personal[minimum 30 credits required of which 12 were covered]• Short Term Commercial[minimum 60 credits required of which 30 were covered]• Pension Fund Benefits[minimum 60 credits required of which 30 were covered]• Retail Fund Benefits[minimum 60 credits required of which 30 were covered]• Collective Investments[minimum 60 credits required of which 30 were covered]• Health Benefits[minimum 60 credits required of which 30 were covered]• Friendly Societies[minimum 30 credits required of which 12 were covered]<strong>and</strong>/orQuestion 4 – Long Term Category B• Assessment tools – Category B2(12 credits)Assessment 2: Short Term Commercial LinesC<strong>and</strong>idates may elect to write any combination of sections withinthis assessment, in order to fulfill their personal outst<strong>and</strong>ing creditrequirement. C<strong>and</strong>idates must not answer more than three questionsThe assessment will consist of:Section 1 – Question1 – Law <strong>and</strong> Ethics(11 credits)Section 2 – Question 2 – Commercial Underwriting (10 credits)Section 3 – C<strong>and</strong>idates may select to answer full questionsfrom the four electives below i.e. the whole of3 <strong>and</strong>/or 4 etc.:Question 3 – General Business Insurance(10 credits)<strong>and</strong>/orQuestion 4 – Agriculture(11 credits)<strong>and</strong>/orQuestion 5 – Marine <strong>and</strong> Transportation(9 credits)<strong>and</strong>/orQuestion 6 – Aviation(11 credits)• Assessment tools – Category ALong Term Category AOne three hour assessment comprising three sections.
